Ultimate Mint Collection is the gift box from the English mint farm Summerdown in Hampshire. Inside the 170-gram box are peppermint fondants, crisp thins, and dark and milk chocolate squares, all featuring peppermint oil distilled from their own fields.

Each variety puts a different spin on the mint

The dark chocolate squares bring the tart cocoa to the forefront, letting the mint drift coolly over it. With the milk chocolate squares, the same performance is softer and sweeter, a gentle introduction for those who find dark chocolate too intense. Such individually laid-out squares are known in the trade as napolitains, small bars in the size of an espresso cup.

The filled fondants feature a soft, light center that melts on the tongue, leaving a lasting cooling sensation. The crisp thins, by contrast, rely on fine sugar particles that crunch audibly as they melt, giving the whole experience a lively rhythm.

The peppermint oil comes entirely from their own fields in Hampshire, where the heritage Black Mitcham variety is grown and distilled right on the estate. An oil with a traceable origin is a major exception in mint chocolate; bought-in flavorings with no known source are the norm.
