From Quiberon, where the Salidou was invented

On the Breton peninsula of Quiberon, Raymond and Yvonne Audebert began cooking salted butter caramel alongside their Niniche lollipops in 1946 – it has been a Breton institution for almost 80 years.

To this day, the family stirs their caramel by hand in copper vats in 120-kilo batches. In 1969, their son Jacques took over the business, and today it is run by grandson Alain Audebert – three generations, one recipe. Alain says nothing has changed in his grandmother's original recipe.

Everything here is crafted patiently and without haste in small batches, just as the confectionery has always done. It is famous for its Niniche lollipops, which now come in around 50 varieties, and for the Salidou, which goes into this little box. Both have long been considered part of Brittany’s culinary heritage, once awarded the title of best candy in France.
