Questions about Mandarin Lemonade?

We are happy to help you with La Mortuacienne.

Mandarin lemonade for travel and backpacks

Of all the small bottles, this one has the lowest sugar content. The mandarin offers plenty of fragrance and little acidity, making it the most uncomplicated variety to carry in your luggage. A drink that works just as well on the train as it does on a hike.

The Mandarin Lemonade is the lowest in sugar among the small varieties from La Mortuacienne, bottled in 0.33 liters with a screw cap. With 7.9 grams of sugar per 100 milliliters, it sits at the bottom end of the entire range. Its aroma comes from the mandarin, the citrus fruit that is more fragrant than it is acidic. The result is mild, clear, and easy to drink.

Fragrant, soft, with a floral finish

As you unscrew the cap, the typical scent of mandarin rises immediately—that essential oil from the peel that lingers on your fingers after peeling one.

This makes the Mandarin Lemonade the most accessible variety in the small format. It remains gentle on the palate. Among the house's citrus varieties, the mandarin has the least acidity, which gives it an almost floral note. With 32 kilocalories per hundred milliliters, it is also the lightest among the small bottles.

This makes it the variety for people who don't like things sour, and for situations where a tart drink would be too much. Between two appointments, for example, or halfway up a hill.

In the glass, it shows a vibrant orange, slightly darker than the orange variety. Fragrant, soft, uncomplicated—it doesn't aspire to be anything more, and that is exactly its value.

On the train, in the backpack, in carry-on luggage

The format is built for on-the-go, and the mandarin is the variety that demands the least.

On the train, the glass feels more comfortable in the hand than a can. On a hike, you can screw the cap back on after the first sip and keep going. And tuck it into a nursery picnic, because it’s sweet enough without being sticky.

With food, it pairs with anything light. Sandwiches, fruit, and a piece of almond cake are its natural companions. Served well-chilled, it tastes just as good from the bottle as it does from a glass.

Why glass and not plastic

A small glass bottle weighs more than one made of plastic. Nevertheless, the house of Rième bottles exclusively in glass, and there are reasons for this.

Glass does not absorb or impart any flavor. For a drink whose aroma comes from natural citrus extracts, this makes a noticeable difference, as these aromas are volatile and sensitive. In PET, the flavor profile changes within weeks.

Shelf life also speaks in favor of glass. A bottle survives transport and storage without the material aging, whereas plastic becomes brittle over time and absorbs odors.

Then there is the carbonation. Glass retains it better than any plastic, which is why the sparkle lasts until the very last sip instead of slowly disappearing. And the bottle can be resealed as often as you like without the cap wearing out.

If you prefer the fruit in a larger size, you can find it as Mandarin Lemonade by the liter. The small orange lemonade brings a touch more acidity, and the small grapefruit lemonade offers significantly more edge. You can find the rest of the range at La Mortuacienne. Deposit is added on top.
