Questions about Lemonade without artificial colorings?

We are happy to help you with La Mortuacienne.

The clear lemonade—no color, no detours

Nature is the simplest variety from the house of Rième. Water-clear in the glass, delicately lemony, without any coloring additives. If you want to know what artisanal lemonade tastes like without any distractions, start here.

The lemonade without coloring is the purist variety from La Mortuacienne and is called Nature in French. It goes into the bottle completely clear, with no coloring agents, and has a delicate lemon taste with restrained sweetness. Of all ten varieties, it comes closest to what flowed from the first bottling in 1921.

Clear, lemony, uncomplicated in the best way

In the glass, it is barely distinguishable from mineral water until the effervescence begins. No yellow tint, no shimmer, just fine bubbles that rise for a long time.

Clear, lemony, restrained—that is how this variety can be summed up in three words. The aroma remains subtle, a bright citrus note without being insistent, and on the palate, the sweetness hits first, followed by a fine acidity, with both quickly fading away. At 8.5 grams of sugar and 34 kilocalories per 100 milliliters, it falls in the middle range of the assortment.

This very restraint is the point. Where other varieties use bitterness, herbs, or caramel, nothing stands out here. What remains is the basic structure of water, sugar, and citrus notes, cleanly crafted and, when well-chilled, one of the most refreshing things ever.

The all-rounder for table and kitchen

Ice-cold and pure, it is a drink that no one will object to. No flavor that might be too much for anyone, no color that makes a promise it can't keep.

At the table, the lemonade without coloring is therefore the most reliable choice if you don't know who you are hosting. It works well with fish, light meat, or a salad with goat cheese, where a bolder variety might get in the way. It even works for breakfast, which is hard to say about a cola. One liter makes a good four glasses.

In the kitchen, it serves as a base. Because it remains clear, it does not distort any colors, which makes all the difference for punches, syrups, and homemade drinks. With elderflower syrup, mint, or a few berries, it becomes something unique in two minutes. It tastes best when well-chilled.

Why a lemonade without color is a statement

Lemonades were colorful for a long time, and for good reason. Color sells; it creates expectations before the first glass is even poured.

With a clear liquid, that head start disappears. What remains must happen in the mouth, and a purist recipe is unforgiving there. Too much sugar is immediately noticeable, as is an artificial tone, because there is nothing to distract from it.

That is exactly why Nature is the benchmark in the assortment. If you want to check whether a manufacturer masters their craft, you reach for the simplest variety. At Rième, that is Nature, and just as Marcel intended in 1921, its sugar base is still created cold in the sirogène today, at 11 degrees and without any heating.

The Lemon Lemonade takes the same clear approach with more citrus intensity, and for a cooling effect, the Lemon with Mint is available. If you are looking for color, you will find it in the Pomegranate Lemonade. The entire selection is available at La Mortuacienne. A deposit fee applies.
