Questions about Lemon Mint Lemonade?

We are happy to help you with La Mortuacienne.

Lemon with mint in the small bottle

Cooling mint meets lemon, bottled in the small bistro-style bottle. Of all the small varieties, this is the most invigorating because the herbal note lingers on the palate long after the bottle is empty.

The Menthe Citron lemonade is the only herbal variety in La Mortuacienne's small format, combining lemon with mint in a handy bistro-style bottle. With 9.2 grams of sugar and 37 kilocalories per 100 milliliters, it is the richest of the small varieties, though the cooling herbal note balances this out well. It is called Menthe Citron in France, where it is consumed by the liter during the summer.

Cooling, herbal, with staying power

On the nose, the mint leads, soft and green, without the sharpness of peppermint oil. Beneath it, the lemon holds its own.

In the mouth, the ratio reverses. First comes the citrus acidity, then the mint spreads out and remains. This lingering effect distinguishes this variety from every other in the range, because where other lemonades vanish after swallowing, this one continues to work for a while.

This makes it the choice for hot days and for that moment after physical exertion, when the mouth is dry and craves something cooling.

In the glass, it remains pale, a light green-yellow without any neon green. Cooling, herbal, clear—that is all it needs to be.

After sports, on a hike, in the garden

This is where the logic of the small format becomes clear. One portion, resealable, and light enough for a backpack.

On a hike, it provides more refreshment after a climb than any sweet variety. Its natural summer spot is in the garden next to a lounge chair. And when guests arrive, pour it over ice with a sprig of fresh mint; it looks like a cocktail, but isn't one.

At the table, it pairs well with Mediterranean food. Mint is already a natural companion to lamb, couscous, and cucumber yogurt dips. Serve chilled; otherwise, the herbal note falls flat.

How much sugar is in a small bottle

With lemonade, it is worth looking at the portion rather than the percentage, as what actually ends up in the glass is what counts.

A small bottle contains a good 30 grams of sugar, and a liter bottle naturally contains three times that. Anyone who drinks one portion and then stops ends up with significantly less than someone who keeps refilling from a large bottle. That is the underestimated advantage of this format.

For everyday life, this means: those who reach for the small bottle make the decision about quantity at the time of purchase. That is more convenient than intending to drink only one glass from a large bottle.

Within the range, the Menthe Citron lemonade sits at the upper end of a scale starting at 7.9 grams with its 9.2 grams. The difference is small, and because the mint cools rather than sweetens, the variety still feels fresher than some with less sugar.

If you are looking for the same combination for the table, you can find it as Lemon Mint Lemonade by the liter. For something without herbs, try the small lemon lemonade; for something milder, go for the small orange lemonade. You can see the other varieties under La Mortuacienne. A deposit applies to every bottle.
