Questions about Chocolate Chip Cookies?

We are happy to help you with La Sablésienne Biscuiterie Artisanale.

Chocolate Chip Cookies from the Sablé Biscuiterie

La Sablésienne's chocolate chip cookies are round, scalloped butter sablés from France with real chocolate chips. A Petit Sablé made using traditional craftsmanship, buttery and crumbly—not a mass-produced factory biscuit.

Chocolate chip cookies from La Sablésienne are French butter cookies from Sablé-sur-Sarthe, with small chocolate chips baked into their crumbly dough. The butter, free-range eggs, and flour come primarily from western France, and the chocolate melts on the tongue with the first bite—in France, they are known as Les Petits Sablés aux pépites de chocolat. Few, high-quality ingredients, plenty of handiwork, and a cookie you will always want to have on hand.

Crumbly butter pastry with melting chocolate chips

The sablé breaks apart, crumbly and buttery, followed by the chocolate chips with their dark, slightly bitter melt.

Buttery, crisp, chocolatey—that is how the cookie plays on the tongue. The chips remain intact during baking and only melt when you bite into them, or if the cookie rests briefly on a warm cup. Round and finely scalloped, the sablé fits perfectly in the hand, baked to a light color with dark specks. A classic loved by young and old alike. No artificial flavorings, no cloying sweetness—here, it is the honest taste of butter and chocolate that counts.

For coffee, milk, and a little break

With coffee, cocoa, or a glass of milk, these chocolate chip cookies are a reliable companion, buttery and chocolatey all at once—a cookie for every day that never grows boring.

The chocolate sablé is just as happy alongside a strong espresso as it is with a hot chocolate on a winter's day or a glass of cold milk in the afternoon. When crumbled, it makes a dark base for a no-bake cheesecake or crowns a scoop of vanilla ice cream. On a plate next to the doubly chocolatey Sablés tout chocolat, you have the full spectrum from light to dark. When arranging a cookie platter, it is a pleasure to place them alongside light fruit sablés to alternate between dark and light.

Craftsmanship from Sablé-sur-Sarthe for generations

The Petit Sablé pur beurre has been baked in Sablé-sur-Sarthe since the 17th century, and La Sablésienne upholds this craft. The company still maintains three specialties of France's culinary heritage to this day, with the Petit Sablé being the most famous.

Every day, the pastry chefs knead the dough by hand, shape and stamp it, place the sablés on metal trays, and sort them individually after baking—just as the company has done for over fifty years. No artificial flavors, no colorings, no preservatives. Georges Justier founded the biscuiterie in 1962, and Amélie Loret Scherrer has been running it since 2003.

The Petit Sablé pur beurre from Sablé-sur-Sarthe is recognized as part of France's culinary heritage, listed in 22 volumes between 1990 and 2003. You can find other varieties in the La Sablésienne collection, which pair perfectly with a freshly roasted coffee.

Briefly placed on a warm cup

The 100g square box contains four bags of four sablés each, keeping the chocolate delicate even after you open one. Rest a cookie briefly on your warm coffee cup; the chocolate chip will soften and its aroma will rise to your nose—a little moment of France in the afternoon. Happiness can be that simple, even when the rain is tapping against the window outside.
