La Sablésienne – Cocoa Butter Biscuits

La Sablésienne's cocoa biscuits are artisanal butter biscuits made according to a traditional French recipe in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, in the heart of the Pays de la Loire. Their buttery shortcrust pastry is truly crispy and doubly chocolatey, refined with cocoa and chocolate chips. These exquisite "tout chocolat" biscuits taste delicious with coffee and tea, but also with hot cocoa, as a crumble for desserts, or as a base for a no-bake cheesecake.

Each attractive package contains 4 x 4 cocoa biscuits wrapped in cellophane. This allows you to take out and enjoy four Les Petits Sablés without the others becoming soft.

Les Petits Sablés tout chocolat – French cocoa biscuits

In the summer of 1670, at a reception at the Hotel Grand Condé in the presence of the Prince of Condé, the Marquise de Sablé was surprised by the buttery-tender shortcrust pastry of a small, round, scalloped biscuit, and the legend of Les Petits Sablés was born. The simple yet ingenious recipe has endured for centuries and has become part of France's culinary heritage.

La Sablésienne – French pastry tradition

In 2003, Amélie Loret Scherrer acquired the Biscuiterie La Sablésienne and, with her passion for good pastries and her creativity, also regarding the packaging, brought it to new fame. The traditional recipe for Les Petits Sablés, from 1670, still relies on a few, but good, regional ingredients: Sarthoise flour from high-quality wheat, plenty of fresh butter, sugar, free-range eggs, and sea salt. Biscuiterie La Sablésienne works without artificial colors, preservatives, or artificial flavors. According to traditional methods, Les Petits Sablés are "cut out" with bronze molds and baked on trays in the oven. After cooling, the caramel biscuits are removed by hand and packaged. In addition to the classic Sablés, La Sablésienne also produces biscuits with raspberry, apricot, chocolate, or caramel pieces, and these double chocolate butter biscuits with cocoa and chocolate chips. Beautifully packaged in small cardboard boxes or metal tins, La Sablésienne's butter biscuits are always a delight.
