The La Quiberonnaise Sardines for Frying with Bordier Butter are a delightful treat because they can simply be warmed up and lightly fried in a pan, and a good sardine meal is ready. This recipe is a collaboration between one of France's best fish canneries and arguably the most renowned artisan when it comes to Breton barrel butter: Jean-Yves Bordier.

The Sardines for Frying with Bordier Butter is a fine, pure recipe that combines sardines with the aroma of salted barrel butter. And the best part: the butter needed for frying is already included in the fish can. Before warming, the can should be held under warm water so that the butter can melt. Then empty the contents of the can into a pan and heat the sardines over very low heat to preserve the tenderness of the fish.

The frying sardines with barrel butter go well with crusty bread, both baguette and dark bread, as well as with mixed salad or potatoes.

Vintage Sardines in Colorful Sardine Cans

La Quiberonnaise's vintage sardines are not only a taste sensation, but their colorful cans also make them unique. The vintage sardines are traditionally crafted by hand at La Quiberonnaise in the fishing port of the Quiberon peninsula in Brittany, and have been since 1921. Freshly caught fish is cleaned and prepared by hand, then placed in the fish cans and preserved. With 100 years of experience, the grandchildren of the founder Henriette Jourdan, Bernard and Thierry, now run the family business and give the Breton vintage sardines time to mature, just as their grandmother once did.
