Cantina Tramin – Sauvignon Blanc from South Tyrol

The Sauvignon Blanc 2024 from Cantina Tramin is an aromatic, dry white wine from South Tyrol. The Sauvignon grape variety is originally from France and is now cultivated worldwide. The Cantina Tramin Sauvignon Blanc seduces with a floral scent and its typical varietal bouquet, reminiscent of nettles and elderflower, with light aromas of green bell pepper and gooseberries, and a greenish-yellow color.

The Sauvignon is wonderfully fresh, lively, and with a hearty acidity. This South Tyrolean wine is an excellent aperitif, and pairs perfectly with asparagus, fish, lobster, seafood, and lightly spiced white meat dishes. Great with fish and spring cuisine.

Cantina Tramin – Winemaking

The mild winter of the 2024 vintage with sufficient rainfall, as well as a warm March also blessed with rain, led to an early budding of the vines. Subsequently, apart from a few early summer days in April, it was rather cool and damp until the end of June. The summer was warm with many hours of sunshine, and a rainy autumn extended the vegetation period of the grapes. Overall, 2024 was a challenging vintage, requiring many extra hours of work in the vineyard. Thanks to a consistent implementation of the quality philosophy, the experience of the winemakers, and the cooperation within the cooperative, Cantina Tramin was able to harvest grape material of remarkable quality, especially for the white grape varieties and Pinot Noir. Thus, the white wines of the 2024 vintage are delicate and fresh in the glass, while among the reds, the elegance of the Pinot Noir stands out.

The Sauvignon Blanc vines for this Cantina Tramin wine are located on calcareous, stony clay soils on hillsides between 350 and 500 m above sea level. The grapes were harvested by hand in several passes at the time of optimal physiological ripeness and brought to the winery in small containers. There, they were destemmed and further processed with gentle pressing. Fermentation took place at a controlled temperature (19°C) in stainless steel tanks, where aging also occurred without malolactic fermentation.

Kellerei Tramin

Die traditionsreiche Kooperative Kellerei Tramin wurde 1898 gegründet und zählt heute 300 familiengeführte Mitgliedsbetriebe. Auf 270 ha gedeihen elf Rebsorten auf Lehm-, Kalk- und Vulkanböden in Höhen von 250–850 m. Kellermeister Willi Stürz prägt seit 20 Jahren besonders den Gewürztraminer-Stil. Ein 2010 errichtetes, nachhaltiges Kellereigebäude mit Vinothek lädt Besucher ein, mit Blick auf den Kalterer See zu genießen.
