Seven centimeters more width change the task

Between twelve and nineteen centimeters in width lies a difference of seven centimeters, and that decides what can actually fit on the wood. A round sourdough loaf can be placed crosswise and sliced across its entire width without the slices tipping over the edge. Potatoes, a bunch of soup vegetables, and the knife find space side-by-side, instead of pushing each other off the surface while working. On a narrow strip, the same work would have to be done sequentially, with intermediate storage for everything currently waiting.

A surface in one piece

Oak with open pore and light base

Oak is one of the hard hardwoods and features a light, slightly yellowish base with clearly defined growth rings. On a width of nineteen centimeters, more of these lines lie side-by-side, which makes the overall pattern appear calmer and more expansive to the viewer. Grapeseed oil and beeswax seal the oak's open pores just enough so that a drop of water does not immediately soak into the surface. The solid wood consists of a single piece and is manufactured in the Netherlands.

Care for a heavy board

A good two kilograms of oak should not stand in water, so soaking in the sink is out for this board. Hold the board at an angle under the tap, rinse the cutting side briefly, and dry both surfaces immediately with a cloth. Dishwashers, microwaves, and ovens are not for solid wood, as heat and constant moisture cause the fibers in the core to shift. The leather strap on the handle is used for hanging, and the board dries fastest from both sides when hung up.
