Weingut Klumpp Pinot Blanc – Estate Wine from Baden – [ORGANIC]
The Klumpp Pinot Blanc 2022 is a dry estate wine from Weingut Klumpp, characterized by candied citrus fruit, red apples, yellow stone fruit and white fragrance, complemented by pleasant mineral notes from the shell limestone.
The 25-year-old vines for this Pinot Blanc estate wine from Baden grow in the Kirchberg vineyard in Unteröwisheim. The south-facing slope with shell limestone soils and a thick loess layer provides complex minerality in the wine and is one of the steepest vineyards of Weingut Klumpp.
Winemaking – Klumpp Pinot Blanc
To harvest ripe grapes in autumn, optimal sun exposure is required. Markus and Andreas Klumpp therefore ensure early defoliation of both sides of the grape zone, followed by yield reduction through cluster splitting and thinning. Selective hand harvesting of the grapes takes place in four passes. In the winery, grapes and mash are not pumped but are moved into the fermentation tanks by gravity. Slow, temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, as well as two months of aging on the lees. This preserves the fine, complex fruitiness of this white wine.
