Chardonnay & Pinot Blanc – Estate Wine from Weingut Knipser
The 2025 Knipser Chardonnay & Pinot Blanc from the Knipser estate in Laumersheim in the Palatinate is a refined, dry VDP estate wine and one of the most popular Knipser wines. This white wine cuvée is characterized by aromas of yellow stone fruit, paired with exotic notes of tropical fruits such as pineapple and lychee, complemented by hints of almond, delicate white blossoms, and the scent of meadow hay. The 2025 Knipser Chardonnay & Pinot Blanc is a delicate wine with a mineral acidity structure, engaging fruitiness, and a creamy melt.
This stainless-steel-aged cuvée of Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc deliberately showcases the fruit of these Burgundy varieties, with the Chardonnay contributing spice and the Pinot Blanc providing power and melt, resulting in a harmonious whole.
Winemaking – Weingut Knipser
The selective hand-harvesting of the grapes in autumn usually takes place in several passes to ensure optimally ripe yields. The Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc grapes are already grown together in the vineyard as a field blend. At the winery, all grapes are destemmed. The resulting mash from both grape varieties is gently pressed using a pneumatic press. Fermentation takes place under temperature control below 20° C in stainless steel tanks, which preserves the fruitiness as well as the varietal character. Maturation on the fine lees also occurs in steel tanks, resulting in fine, elegant, and fresh wines. A small portion of Chardonnay is aged in barriques, which lends the cuvée complexity.
