Tomato Sugo alla Siciliana – Napoleta' by Italianavera

The Napoleta' Tomato Sugo alla Siciliana is a Sicilian recipe, with pureed tomatoes, olive oil, aubergines and basil, bottled in a small milk bottle. The Napoleta' by Italianavera Sugo is a passionate interpretation of a classic Italian recipe of Sicilian origin, where the aroma of ripe tomatoes and baked aubergines combines with the taste of the best extra virgin olive oil and freshly picked basil.

Its aromatic, expressive flavour is perfect for baked pasta, lasagna or macaroni, or even penne with provolone. The Sugo alla Siciliana is a sauce that knows no bounds and is incredibly versatile. And because it's so delicious, when you try it, you'll think of Bella Napoli!

Tomato Sugo alla Siciliana – like freshly cooked

The tomatoes for Italianavera's sughi – the true Italian – come from the region around San Marzano Sul Sarno. Here, not far from Naples, between the lightness of the Amalfi Coast in the west and the energetic volcano Vesuvius, is not only the home of the best tomatoes, but also that of Italy's most attractive sauce maker: Diana Attianese. Even as a child, she learned everything there is to know about tomatoes from her mother and aunt, who would cook down the freshly picked, ripe tomatoes into sugo in the early, cooler morning hours of summer: how the different varieties taste, how they smell when ripe, which tomatoes are best for sauces, and which are peeled and cooked whole. Because even if the old varieties are not suitable for transport due to their sensitivity, they can be wonderfully preserved in glass and cans without losing their fresh taste and intense aroma.

Italianavera – best tomatoes from Italy

Diana knew the canning business well, as her father was active in this industry, but as is often the case with daughters, they want to do things differently, better than their fathers. Only the best tomatoes are cooked into sugo or go into the pop-art cans of the trained business economist. And because the art of preserving is traditionally a women's craft, the name Italianavera suits the lively Italian and her ten female employees particularly well.

Napoleta' is Italianavera's newest line and a nostalgic homage to the city of Naples, to its beauty, to Vesuvius, to tradition and folklore. So beautifully packaged, the tomato sughi tell a tradition of pasta and pizza, of love and goodness, of Dolce Vita.

Italianavera
