Fruity tomato sauce like homemade
Schaut's tomato sauce is a ready-to-serve pasta sauce made from 90 percent tomatoes, cooked by hand in their own sauce kitchen. No mass-produced convenience sauce, but a fruity sauce just like you would make yourself on the stove.
Tomato sauce from Schaut is a fruity sugo from the Schaut pasta manufactory in Andelfingen on the edge of the Swabian Jura, cooked from 90 percent tomatoes and a few spices. It is ready-to-use, all you have to do is heat it up. It contains ripe tomatoes and a few spices; that's all a good sauce needs.
Fruity, juicy, and ready to serve
The sauce tastes like ripe tomatoes, not like it came from a can. It contains 90 percent tomatoes plus a few spices, perfectly seasoned for the pot. The color is deep red, and the aroma is reminiscent of a kitchen where someone has been simmering tomatoes all morning.
It is simmered in their own sauce kitchen until it reaches a beautiful, thick consistency, completely free of preservatives or flavor enhancers. It is lactose-free and comes ready-to-serve; all you have to do is heat it up and pour it over your pasta. What you taste is tomato, not laboratory-produced flavoring.
This turns a quick pasta dinner into a proper meal, even when you're in a rush. In barely 10 minutes, you can have a plate of pasta on the table that tastes like someone spent hours at the stove. Keeping a jar in the cupboard is a lifesaver for days when the fridge doesn't have much to offer.
The sauce for the house's pasta
Its natural partner is the pasta from the same house. Poured over the fresh egg spaghetti, the sauce clings to the rough bronze-cut surface, just as it does to the wide ribbon noodles. This is how you taste the craft in its entirety, with pasta and sauce perfectly coordinated.
But the sauce also works well with any other pasta, with gnocchi, or on a quick pizza. A spoonful in your rice with some fresh basil on top, and you have a simple meal on the table. If you like, stir in a dash of cream or fry up some ground meat to go with it. It can also be used as a base for a Bolognese or a shakshuka, just as you please.
For children, it is the mild base that almost always works, with no sharp edges. A 300-gram jar is enough for two to three portions of pasta and is a quick pantry staple for when there isn't time for elaborate cooking.
From the sauce kitchen in Andelfingen
The tomato sauce comes from the Schaut pasta manufactory, which originally made its name with pasta. In 1993, Brigitte Schaut began processing eggs from her own farm into pasta in a garage that had been converted on short notice.
In 2013, the family expanded and set up their own sauce kitchen, and since then, they have been creating pasta sauces to match their noodles. Whatever leaves the kitchen carries the same standard as their pasta: honest and without shortcuts. Today, the third generation works in a manufactory with a transparent production process, following the motto "Time for something special."
This closes the circle, with pasta and sauce from a single source. In addition to the tomato sauce, you will find the matching pasta specialties from Schaut and more pasta and sauces in our shop. A good meal doesn't get any easier than this.
