Questions about Tomato juice?

We are happy to help you with Alain Milliat.

Robust red tomato juice from three varieties

Alain Milliat's tomato juice is a French vegetable juice made from three sun-ripened tomato varieties, including the Cornue des Andes. Hearty, fleshy and slightly acidic, with only a subtle hint of salt. The brand's most popular juice and the ideal base for a great Bloody Mary.

Tomato juice with this much character is a rarity: Alain Milliat's tomato juice combines three carefully selected tomato varieties, including the aromatic Cornue des Andes from the Peruvian Andes. Robust, fleshy and only lightly salted, it tastes like ripe tomatoes rather than canned ones—a juice with real depth.

Hearty, fleshy, slightly acidic

The moment you pour it, the glass fills with the intense, hearty aroma of ripe, sun-warmed tomatoes.

The deep red juice has a dense, almost fleshy texture and a bold, slightly acidic flavor. It sits on the tongue with a savory, spicy, vibrant character, carrying the full depth of sun-ripened tomatoes. "Liquid and fleshy, slightly acidic and balanced"—this is how Alain himself describes his juice, and it couldn't be more accurate.

This is what makes this tomato juice so special: three varieties complement each other to form a rounded whole where none overshadows the other. The subtle seasoning only serves to highlight the fruit, rather than masking it. This is how a tomato tastes when harvested at peak ripeness.

There is a reason why this is the most popular tomato juice in the range: it hits the perfect balance between fruit and spice, exactly where the tomato is at its most enjoyable. Once you've tried it, you’ll rarely go back to the bland options found on supermarket shelves.

The basis of any good Bloody Mary

Hardly any juice is as highly prized in a bar as a good tomato juice, and this one is world-class.

With vodka, pepper, a celery stalk, and a splash of lemon, it becomes the perfect Bloody Mary; served neat and well-chilled, it is a savory aperitif in its own right. It is also a delight in the kitchen, perhaps as a base for a cold soup or as a flavorful note in a stew. A glass of it is a brunch essential, garnished with a little celery and freshly ground pepper.

A glass served at 8 to 12 degrees is all it needs for the fruit of the three varieties to truly shine. Its milder, sweeter counterpart is the yellow tomato juice, while you'll find fruity-sweet options in the nectars collection.

Top seller out of over one hundred varieties

Before this blend was created, Alain Milliat tasted over one hundred tomato varieties and eventually selected three of them.

One of these is the Cornue des Andes (the "Andean Horn"), an elongated, fleshy tomato from the Peruvian Andes with few seeds and an intense aroma. It is harvested when sun-ripened, as Alain emphasizes that the flavor develops on the vine. The juice is processed and bottled in the Rhône Valley south of Lyon, just as every juice from the house has been since 1997. It is not for nothing that it was the most popular juice in the range in 2022.

Alain Milliat, himself a fruit farmer from Orliénas, took over the family farm in 1983 and launched his project in 1997 to elevate juices and vegetable juices to the level of fine wines. His creations quickly won over the sommeliers of gourmet restaurants. You can find out more in the portrait of Alain Milliat, and explore further varieties right next door in our juices section. Hats off.
