Fine Sardine Cream with Tomato from Portugal

The Sardine Paté from Briosa Gourmet is a fine sardine cream made from sardines, olive oil, tomato, and spices, hand-cooked in Figueira da Foz. Not a firm fish from a tin, but a hearty spread for bread, crackers, and dipping.

The Sardine Paté from Briosa Gourmet is a fine Portuguese sardine cream, made from freshly caught sardines simmered with olive oil, tomato, and spices into an aromatic fish mousse. Hearty in tone, spreadable on the knife, with the full flavor of an oil-packed sardine. A classic for spreading and dipping.

Hearty, creamy, and savory

The sardine cream is creamy, savory, and velvety, with the robust tone of the sardine softened by olive oil and tomato.

It yields immediately on the knife and stays creamy on bread. The sardine brings strength and a touch of the sea, the tomato a fruity sweetness, while the spices remain subtly in the background. No harsh fishy notes, just a well-rounded, hearty seasoning. This is the sardine in its smoothest form. A spread that smells of the harbor and sunshine—honest and direct.

While the salmon cream remains delicate and light, the sardine version is fuller and more savory. A spread for those who love the authentic taste of sardines. If you like good sardines in oil, you will also love this cream.

On crackers, on eggs, in sauces

Crispy crackers and freshly toasted bread are perfect for this sardine paté; a dollop is all you need.

Serve it as a dip with wine or beer, accompanied by a few olives and vegetable sticks. On an appetizer platter, it pairs well with mackerel paté and whole sardines in olive oil—a hearty duo of spreading and biting. A spoonful on an egg or a dollop in potato salad, and your quick appetizer is ready.

When you have guests, stir the cream until smooth with a little cream cheese and lemon, then serve in a small bowl with warm flatbread. In no time at all, a single tin becomes a greeting from the kitchen that tastes of the sea.

The cream is also a great kitchen companion: a spoonful adds depth to a tomato sauce for pasta, or a dollop seasons a fish soup. Thus, the little tin travels from the aperitif straight to the stove.

Hand-cooked in Figueira da Foz

Briosa Gourmet is a brand by A Briosa, which has been at home in the fishing port of Figueira da Foz for over 30 years, founded in 1991 by António Faustino on the Portuguese Atlantic coast.

Right at the port of Cabedelo, the fish arrives fresh and without long transport routes. Diligent hands clean and fillet the sardines before they are cooked with olive oil, tomato, and a finely balanced spice blend into a delicate cream. Up to 60,000 tins are produced in a single day, each one wrapped by hand in azulejo-patterned paper. Sardine, mackerel, tuna, and salmon are transformed here into four fine creams, each with its own character.

Briosa Gourmet has come to us for many years through the company Conservas Portugal Norte, founded in 1912 in Matosinhos, which has been nurturing Portuguese canned fish for over 100 years. The classic brand Porthos also comes from the same house. Browse through more canned fish from Briosa Gourmet.
