Sansovina Pasta Sauce, mild organic tomato sauce with basil

Cipriani Sansovina Pasta Sauce is an organic tomato sauce with basil, gently balanced and without any overpowering heat. The 340-gram jar goes perfectly with any Cipriani pasta, whether egg or durum wheat, and is ready to serve after just a few minutes of heating.

Sansovina Pasta Sauce by Cipriani is a mild organic tomato sauce, refined with basil and harmoniously balanced. The 340-gram jar is enough for about four servings of pasta and is intentionally subtle in its seasoning so that it complements any pasta shape.

Mild, harmonious, with a clear note of basil

Unlike heavily seasoned sauces, the Sansovina focuses on restraint: ripe tomatoes, a little basil, and not much else – no chili, no dominant garlic note.

This mildness makes the sauce versatile, even for children or anyone who prefers simple, uncomplicated meals. The basil flavor remains present without overpowering the tomato note.

The 340-gram jar provides enough sauce for four servings, depending on how generously it is distributed over the pasta.

The mild Sansovina also works well as a shared base for guests with different preferences, as everyone at the table can season it to their liking with chili flakes, cheese, or fresh herbs.

Heated in a pan in just a few minutes, the Sansovina is ready to serve faster than most homemade sauces.

If you are short on time, you can also stir the jar directly into the hot, drained pasta – without needing a separate pot.

For any pasta, from delicate to robust

The mild seasoning of the Sansovina makes it the ideal base sauce, whether for robust organic spaghetti made from durum wheat semolina or fine Tagliolini all'uovo made from egg dough.

If you prefer a stronger flavor, stir in a spoonful of red wine vinegar or grate fresh Parmesan over it. For a thicker consistency, it can be mixed with the richer tomato Passata from the same line.

The Sansovina also works well as a base for a quick gratin, for example, with square Tagliardi egg noodles baked with a little cheese.

Diluted with some vegetable broth as a warm soup base, the Sansovina can also become a quick tomato soup – an uncomplicated secondary use that goes beyond a mere pasta sauce.

A sauce for quick, everyday cooking

Like the pasta itself, the Sansovina has its origins in Harry's Bar in Venice, where Giuseppe Cipriani opened his bar in 1931 and where Arrigo Cipriani later continued the culinary recipes.

“Fewer ingredients, better quality” – this principle also applies to the Sansovina: a handful of ingredients, no unnecessary additives, but a reliable taste that goes with almost every dish.

The sauce is produced in the same small family business that makes the pasta, olive oil, and the company's other gourmet products – all following the same simple recipes from Harry's Bar.

Those looking for more pasta sauces from the same kitchen can find them along with basil pesto and tomato Passata in our Cipriani Gourmet selection.

Boiling with pasta water helps it bind better

Bring the Sansovina to a boil briefly with a little pasta cooking water before adding the cooked pasta – this helps the sauce bind better to any pasta shape.

This is how a mild base sauce becomes a reliable companion for everyday life.
