The marzipan potatoes from Confiserie Imping are classic treats during the Advent and Christmas season, made from fine marzipan, and an essential part of any festive platter. The finest noble marzipan is shaped by hand into small, bite-sized balls.

To make good marzipan, not much is really needed: almonds and sugar in the right ratio, a little drinking water, and a little rose water. First, a raw marzipan paste is made, which may contain a maximum of 35% sugar. This is then turned into marzipan with the addition of more sugar. For the designation "noble marzipan," the product must consist of at least 70% raw marzipan paste and a maximum of 30% added sugar. In Imping's noble marzipan, the sugar content is even lower than legally required. And the marzipan potatoes are hand-rolled!

Founded in 1953 by grandparents Alfons and Irmgard Imping, the confectionery with café quickly became known for its masterfully prepared delicacies made from selected, fresh ingredients. In the mid-eighties, the second generation, with son Walter Imping and his wife Hedwig, took over the helm of the family business. They continued to focus on the artisanal production of exquisite pralines, truffles, and fine pastries and today supply specialty shops throughout Germany. The processing of the best ingredients is just as important to them today as it was to the founders in 1953.
