Questions about 1 Silver Medal – Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PGI?

We are happy to help you with Giuseppe Giusti Modena.

The Silver Medal from the Collezione Storica

The 1 Medaglia d'Argento by Giuseppe Giusti is an Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP from the historic collection, light and highly aromatic. A silver medal with a rounded acidity, intended for salads and vegetables, not a thick syrup for the spoon.

1 Medaglia d'Argento is the fresh entry point into the Collezione Storica by Giuseppe Giusti, the award-winning Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP from Modena. The silver medal represents a lighter, lively profile with a rounded acidity that awakens your salads without overpowering them. Bottled in the manufacturer's historic "Champagnotta" bottle.

The name stems from a genuine honor, as the medals commemorate the World's Fairs of the late 19th century where Giusti won his awards. Here, the silver marks the lightest, freshest level of the range, which becomes denser and sweeter with each additional gold medal. This is a balsamic for generous use, not for sparing drips.

Bright, lively, with a rounded acidity

The 1 Medaglia d'Argento has a warm and balsamic aroma, while its taste remains lean, with clear fruit and an acidity that is rounded rather than sharp.

It is not a thick balsamic for drizzling, but a bright, highly aromatic vinegar for vibrant use. The density is 1.18; the profile remains fresh and enlivening, with warm balsamic notes in the finish. Those who prefer something more substantial can step up to the rounder 2 Medaglie d'Oro, which already exhibits more sweetness.

Fresh with salads, vegetables, and dips

The 1 Medaglia d'Argento enjoys fresh plates, green and mixed salads, grilled vegetables, sauces, and dips.

Drizzled over a crisp leafy salad with a few drops of good olive oil, its rounded acidity makes the greens shine. It also shows character in a quick vinaigrette or a quark dip; a splash is enough. Added over warm grilled vegetables, it wakes up bell peppers and zucchini, and over ripe strawberries, the silver turns into a small dessert. For earthier everyday needs in a large bottle, there is the Bordolese for every day, which is a bit simpler in construction.

French oak and a label from 1900

The 1 Medaglia d'Argento matures in old French oak barrels, some in use since 1900, filled according to the Solera principle from the house's batteries.

Only cooked grape must and aged wine vinegar go into the bottle; the rest is time. The cellars house over 600 old barrels made of chestnut, cherry, oak, and juniper, some dating back to the 17th century.

The Acetaia Giuseppe Giusti dates back to the 16th century and has passed down its knowledge for 17 generations; for over 400 years, the craft has remained in the family. As early as 1863, at the agricultural exhibition in Modena, the vinegar merchant identified the essential golden ingredients: good grapes, good barrels, and time, according to Giuseppe Giusti.

The 5 vinegars of the Collezione Storica, all Aceto Balsamico di Modena IGP, bear the first historic Giusti label from the beginning of the 20th century and the Champagnotta shape, with which the family celebrated their medals. You receive the 1 Medaglia d'Argento in a 250 ml bottle, the light prelude to this series, with more available in our balsamic selection. One could say it is a silver medal that invites you to drink it up.
