The Marzadro Liqueur Miniature Set is a cross-section of the liqueur side of Distilleria Marzadro: five 5-centiliter bottles side-by-side in a box with five compartments. Three cream liqueurs based on cream from fresh Trentino milk, each with 17% ABV, a clear Limoncino with 35% ABV, and an egg liqueur—the sweet side of the house in one box.

The set shows its range right in the bottle: from the light orange of the Nocciola to the green of the Pistacchio and the pale yellow of the Limone, to the bold hue of the Bellabomba. Five bottles, three directions: nutty, creamy, and citrusy.

What is in the five compartments

Three cream liqueurs, one Limoncino, one egg liqueur—five centiliters each.

The Nocciola with hazelnut represents the down-to-earth side of the range, the Pistacchio with pistachio is the best-known, and the Limone with lemon is the freshest. All three share the same cream from fresh Trentino milk and the same 17% ABV—the labels state it in Italian: gustoso liquore ottenuto da panna fresca.

Next to them are two bottles that break the mold. The Limoncino is lemon without cream and, at 35% ABV, is the strongest in the set. The Bellabomba is the Bombardino you know from the mountain huts—an egg liqueur made from Trentino milk, as mild as the Crema Alpina next to it at 17% ABV.

The gift for the indecisive

Five varieties side-by-side answer the question of which one to give as a gift.

If you want to give a gift to a liqueur drinker and don't know their preference, you're giving them five at once here. The box with the wood-grain print doesn't need wrapping paper, and the compartments keep the bottles exactly where they belong. As a little gift, for a birthday, or under the tree: the format fits anywhere a whole bottle would be too much.

Where the five come from

All five bottles come from the same house in Trentino.

For Marzadro, the cream liqueurs are the typical expression of the Alpine valleys, as the family calls it themselves. The Limoncino follows the Ricetta Tradizionale, the traditional recipe, and the Bombardino comes from a completely different corner: it belongs in the ski hut, served hot or cold. The fact that these three stand side-by-side in one box shows the bandwidth of a distillery that most people know for their grappa.

Everything is stirred and distilled in Nogaredo in the Adige Valley, not far from Lake Garda, where Sabina Marzadro began distilling in 1949. Over 75 years later, Andrea, Anna, and Stefano Marzadro—the children of her brother Attilio, who took over in 1960—continue to run the house. Anyone vacationing by the lake can visit the distillery.

Three in the fridge, one in the freezer

Five small bottles, well-chilled side-by-side at 8 to 10 degrees, and guests can choose for themselves—this is the fastest tasting a distillery has to offer. The three cream liqueurs and the Bellabomba belong in the fridge afterwards, the Limoncino in the freezer. For the rest of the house, there's the grappa, and that stays at room temperature.
