Raumland – Blanc de Blancs Bürgel Réserve Extra Brut
The Raumland sparkling wine Blanc de Blancs Bürgel Réserve Extra Brut 2013 is the second VDP. single-vineyard sparkling wine from the Raumland winery, originating from the Dalsheim Bürgel site. This finely sparkling Réserve wine impresses with its sophistication, elegance, and profound complexity.
Single-vineyard sparkling wines are only harvested and made into sparkling wine separately in the best years, as these wines require perfect conditions in the individual sites.
The Raumland Réserve sparkling wines are characterized by and benefit from their long lees aging of at least 90 months – which is 7 years. During this period of yeast autolysis, unmistakable aromas of brioche, nut butter, and roasted almonds develop. The Raumland Blanc de Blancs Réserve Brut sparkling wine enchants with its particularly fine perlage and a profound body with a long finish; it is finessed and invigorating.
The current 2013 vintage aged on the lees for 90 months. The Raumland Blanc de Blancs Bürgel Réserve Extra Brut sparkling wine is a very complex sparkling wine, full-bodied and powerful with good structure, taut acidity, and great length. The Réserve sparkling wine smells of green apple, ripe quince and pear, and citrusy-tart grapefruit, showing intense notes of fresh challah bread and almonds. A sparkling wine right on point, crystal clear, and puristically dry.
With its complexity and fine creaminess, the Blanc de Blancs Réserve Bürgel Extra Brut is a good food companion for Mediterranean fish and crustaceans, and light meat.

Sekthaus Raumland – Sparkling Wine on Par with Champagne
The Sekthaus Raumland from Flörsheim Dalsheim in Rheinhessen produces German sparkling wine of extra class that need not shy away from international comparison.
Volker Raumland produces sparkling wine using traditional bottle fermentation, exclusively from his own hand-picked grapes, with a focus on Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder) and Chardonnay, from organically cultivated vineyards. The Pinot Blanc grapes for this Réserve sparkling wine grow on nearly 40-year-old vines in the VDP. Grosse Lage Dalsheim Bürgel in Rheinhessen. The VDP.Grosse.Lage Dalsheim Bürgel is one of our most important sparkling wine sites. The soil consists of limestone-brown loam (Terra Fusca) in the top layer, which otherwise only occurs on old land surfaces far from active erosion. Our Pinot Blanc vineyard stands there at an altitude of 260 meters. The Pinot Blanc grapes were selectively hand-picked on September 25 and October 09, 2013.
Gentle whole-bunch pressing, aging of the base wines in stainless steel, malolactic fermentation, second fermentation in the bottle, and long lees aging are prerequisites for this quality, a complex aromatic spectrum, and the particular fine perlage of his sparkling wines.
"Good taste is not objective – it is not measurable. It has taken many years of patience and countless attempts to come closer to the great goal step by step: to achieve the optimum from the variety of our grape varieties, traditional methods, and today's available possibilities. That is our vision, which challenges us anew every day," says Germany's best sparkling wine producer, Volker Raumland.
