Erich Stekovics is the Emperor of Tomatoes. By Lake Neusiedl in Austria, he plants and cultivates countless old, almost forgotten varieties of tomatoes, peppers, chilies, garlic, and cucumbers, and transforms them into delicious jarred preserves, such as these Mangalitza Paprika.
What Erich Stekovics plants has flavor. And he is particularly fond of old varieties of tomato and chili plants. And no one can fool him easily when it comes to that. Among his personal favorite varieties is the "Gänseschnabel" chili, which he pickles in the finest Beerenauslese vinegar.
