However, the cultivation of this variety, bred in 1925 by Dr. Otto Schindler and named after his wife, is very elaborate and completely unsuitable for conventional agriculture.

Erich Stekovics is the Emperor of Tomatoes; at Lake Neusiedl in Austria, he plants and cultivates countless old, almost forgotten varieties of tomatoes, peppers, chilies, garlic, and cucumbers, and transforms them into delicious delicacies, preserved in wine vinegar in jars.

What Erich Stekovics plants has flavor. And he is particularly fond of the old varieties of tomato and chili plants. And nobody can fool him easily. Among his personal favorite varieties is the "Gänseschnabel" chili, which he pickles in the finest Beerenauslese vinegar.
