Questions about Raspberry Schnapps?

We are happy to help you with Faude feine Brände.

Raspberry Spirit from Kaiserstuhl garden raspberries

The Raspberry Spirit from Faude feine Brände is a clear fruit spirit made from hand-picked garden raspberries, distilled in the Kaiserstuhl region at 40% ABV. Intense, fruity, dry – the rich aroma of ripe raspberries in a glass, with no added sweetness.

Raspberry spirit is a classic fruit spirit from master distiller Florian Faude in Bötzingen at the Kaiserstuhl. For this spirit, he processes fresh-from-the-bush garden raspberries from the Kaiserstuhl and Ortenau regions, whose high berry content provides the rich aroma. Dry, full-fruited, clear – a house classic that should not be missing from any well-stocked home bar.

Rich raspberry aroma, clear and dry

On the nose, the raspberry spirit reveals the full aroma of ripe raspberries, fresh and intense, like a basket of freshly picked berries.

On the palate, it is dry and clear, without any sweetness – just the pure fruit. Florian distills it in a way that captures the fine raspberry aroma in the glass, avoiding the bitter notes of the seeds. Juicy, fruity, fresh – the finish lingers long on the palate.

Unlike a liqueur, this spirit is crystal clear and unsweetened – all its power lies in the aroma, not in sugar. This is how you taste the raspberry as it hung on the bush, concentrated into a single, intense sip.

Crystal clear, unsweetened, in a stemmed glass

It is best to enjoy the raspberry spirit neat, at room temperature, from a small stemmed glass so that the aroma can fully unfold.

Served neat at 18 to 20 degrees Celsius after a meal, the raspberry spirit shows its full depth. Drizzled over fresh berries, panna cotta, or vanilla ice cream, it refines any berry-based dessert. If you prefer something sparkling, try the Rubus Gin with raspberry or the clear Cherry.

Garden raspberries, processed fresh from the bush

For his raspberry spirit, Florian Faude deliberately chooses garden raspberries instead of wild raspberries and processes the delicate berries fresh from the bush in Bötzingen.

The small red fruits are hand-picked in the Kaiserstuhl and Ortenau regions – the fresher they arrive in the still, the clearer the aroma. A good distillate begins with top-quality fruit, as Florian is convinced, and the high berry content gives the spirit its punch.

Why a spirit (Geist) and not a brandy (Brand)? Raspberries do not contain enough sugar to be fermented like fruit brandy. That is why Florian macerates the berries in pure alcohol instead of mashing them – this keeps the fruit bright and clear in the glass, free from bitter seed notes.

“We steep the fruit in pure alcohol and distill the essence after a short time,” explains Florian. This ensures that only the fine raspberry aroma reaches the distillate. He brings the spirit to 40% ABV using soft Black Forest water, with no added flavors or colors, bottled in 0.5-liter bottles. Florian took over his parents' distillery in 2006 and rebuilt it in 2017. Not too cold, otherwise the fruit closes up

The raspberry aroma blossoms best at room temperature from a small glass. Ice-cold temperatures tend to close up the fruit, so it is better not to serve it too cold. Once opened, it keeps for a long time if stored in a cool, dark place. For berry lovers and Black Forest fans, it makes a beautiful, full-fruited gift.
