Questions about Beetroot Spirit?

We are happy to help you with Faude feine Brände.

Beetroot Geist as an earthy surprise from the Kaiserstuhl

The Beetroot Geist from Faude feine Brände is a clear spirit made from field-fresh young beetroot, distilled in the Kaiserstuhl region at 40% ABV. Earthy, spicy, with a slight sweetness on the finish – an exotic spirit that polarizes and sparks curiosity.

Beetroot Geist is an unusual spirit by master distiller Florian Faude from Bötzingen in the Kaiserstuhl region. For this, he distills field-fresh young beetroot from a local farmer, capturing its earthy, spicy aroma in pure grain alcohol. The result is intense and surprisingly fresh, with a delicate sweetness on the finish.

Earthy tuber, spicy and fresh

On the nose, the Beetroot Geist is spicy, earthy, and intense, like biting into a fresh red tuber.

On the palate, it is clear and dry, characterized by its earthy spice with a slight, surprising sweetness on the finish. Earthy, spicy, fresh – a bold presence that polarizes and is precisely what makes it enjoyable. If you like beetroot, you will recognize it immediately in the glass.

A beetroot spirit might sound like a gimmick at first, but that appetite for the unexpected is Florian's signature: classics that surprise, and surprises that become classics. Some love it right away; others are those whom Florian still wants to convert.

From a neat glass to the cocktail bar

Whether enjoyed neat and ice-cold or as a long drink with tonic, the Beetroot Geist awakens a desire for the unknown; in the bar, it is an exciting cocktail ingredient.

It pairs wonderfully with hearty winter cuisine and fine dishes featuring red or golden beets, where its spice picks up the earthiness. In a long drink with tonic and a splash of lemon, it becomes surprisingly elegant, almost an aperitif for the brave. In upscale gastronomy, it also appears in savory drinks and with red sauces, where its earthiness creates an exciting bridge. If you enjoy unusual spirits, try the Cucumber Geist and the Spruce Sprout Geist next.

Field-fresh tubers from Bötzingen, boldly distilled

Florian Faude sources the young beetroots fresh from the field from a farmer in Bötzingen and processes them immediately while the tuber is at its peak aroma.

A beetroot distillate raises questions at first, but they are answered at the first sniff. It is precisely these exotic spirits that have brought Florian—with the help of his brother, who established contacts in Berlin—into upscale gastronomy and trendy bars.

“We take a piece of nature, macerate it in pure alcohol, and distill the essence after a short period,” explains Florian. Using soft Black Forest water, he brings the spirit to 40% ABV, with no added colors or chill filtration, bottled in 0.5-liter bottles. Florian took over his parents' distillery in 2006 and rebuilt it in 2017. You can find more spirits from Faude feine Brände here.

Served straight from the fridge

At 8 degrees Celsius, straight from the fridge, the earthy spice shines through most clearly. Once opened, store it in a cool, dark place to keep it aromatic for a long time. In its clear bottle, it is an original gift for anyone who thinks they already have everything in their cabinet. A bold spirit for curious connoisseurs.

Faude feine Brände
