Questions about Vintage Sardines – 2025?

We are happy to help you with La Perle des Dieux.

2025 vintage sardines by Mademoiselle Perle, brand new and fresh

The 2025 vintage sardines from La Perle des Dieux are very young sardines in extra virgin olive oil from the Vendée, caught at the end of the season and packed fresh into the tin. The latest vintage to enjoy immediately or to age – featuring the whole family in a boat on the lid.

2025 vintage sardines are young sardines in olive oil from the Conserverie La Perle des Dieux in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, in the Vendée on the Atlantic coast south of Brittany. Caught at the end of the season, when the sardines had about 12% fat content, and packed fresh – the latest "primeur" that has just hit the market.

Clear, firm and full of the sea

As the youngest vintage, the 2025 still has a firm bite: clear, fresh, with the bright note of the Atlantic.

This is the sardine in its crisp youth – salty, clean, lively, with the olive oil distinctly perceptible. And for those with patience, put a few tins away: over the years, the fresh fish will turn into a velvety fondant, eventually becoming an "exception."

Fresh for a boat picnic

Young and fresh, they are perfect in a sandwich: crusty baguette, a few tomatoes, a lettuce leaf, and ready for a picnic.

In terms of taste, we were surprised by a cool Muscadet, the white wine from just around the corner in Nantes – matching the family in the boat on the tin. They are also a pure delight simply on buttered bread. You can find more ideas in our sardines in olive oil collection.

If you want to let them age: turn the tin every 6 months so that the oil evenly coats the fish. Stored in a cool, dark place, the 2025 will last a decade or more – and improve with every year.

The whole family in the boat

La Perle des Dieux is arguably the most feminine cannery in the industry – founded in 2005 by Claudie Vardelle, who came from the Parisian fashion world.

Together with Philippe Gendreau, whose family has been preserving fish for four generations, she wanted to restore the nobility of the sardine – using art instead of nets on the tins. This led to the poetic Mademoiselle Perle by Delphine Cossais from Nantes and the colorful Lulu by Coralie Joulin. Fresh from the catch, the sardines are cleaned by hand and packed within 48 hours.

The 2025 motif is titled "Mlle Perle et l'odyssée familiale" and shows Madame Perle with her children in a fishing boat off the coast of the Vendée, enjoying the gentle waves. A warm image for the youngest vintage and another collector's item in the vintage sardines by La Perle des Dieux series.
