The La Perle des Dieux small sardines in olive oil are caught in France off the coast of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, a small commune southwest of Nantes that still largely relies on fishing, and preserved in colorful sardine tins. The small sardines in olive oil are a simple but good recipe, as the aromatic olive oil combines with the fat of the mini sardines, known as sardinettes. The tin contains 8-10 small sardines, "petites fondantes".

La Perle des Dieux – the best sardine tins

La Perle des Dieux is probably the most feminine cannery among sardine producers. No wonder, as founder Claudie Vardelle was for a long time the manager of a Parisian fashion store before she founded La Perle des Dieux in 2005 together with Philippe Gendreau, whose family had been producing canned fish for 4 generations.
