Questions about Bellabomba Egg Liqueur – Miniature?

We are happy to help you with Distilleria Marzadro.

Bellabomba Egg Liqueur Miniature, a mug of Bombardino

The Bellabomba egg liqueur miniature by Marzadro contains 5 cl – exactly one mug of Bombardino made from Trentino milk, egg yolk, and rum. Thick and mild with 17% ABV. The small bottle for tasting and gifting.

The Bellabomba egg liqueur miniature is a taste of the Bombardino from Distilleria Marzadro: five centiliters of Trentino milk, egg yolk, and rum. The same recipe as in the large bottle, the same 17% ABV – just in a format that fits into any jacket pocket and is enough for exactly one mug.

In the glass, the Bellabomba is a vibrant yellow and thick, with a creamy, sweet, and gentle palate until the rum underneath provides warmth. One sip is enough to know if it’s for you.

One mug, no obligation

Five centiliters is exactly the amount that belongs in a Bombardino.

That makes the miniature the most honest of all sizes: you heat it up, pour it into a thick-walled mug, top it with whipped cream, and sprinkle bitter cocoa powder over it – and you have a drink for which others keep an entire bottle in the cupboard. If you like it, the 200 ml bottle awaits as a souvenir and the 500 ml bottle for the kitchen.

It works just as well cold: well-chilled in a small glass after a meal. Egg liqueur is the type of liqueur where you rarely have to think about whether you like it – you know after the first sip.

A greeting from a ski holiday

Anyone returning from Trentino brings back exactly something like this.

The small bottle fits on an Advent calendar, in a gift basket, and next to a larger present that is still missing its finishing touch. Its color helps: a bright yellow bottle among brown spirits stands out before anyone has even read the label. And those who give it to people who have stood in an Italian mountain hut before don't need to explain anything.

It’s also perfect for a ski trip: five centiliters weigh nothing and fit in any ski jacket. If someone then asks what a Bombardino is, the answer is already included.

The format also works well in a Christmas package: where a whole bottle looks like an obligatory gift, the miniature seems like a clever idea. And if the recipient doesn't end up liking egg liqueur after all, nobody has lost anything.

Where the yellow comes from

Trentino milk, egg yolk, and rum – the size of the bottle doesn't change that.

The egg yolk binds and creates the thick, yellow consistency, the milk from the valley provides the foundation, and the rum brings the warmth. Marzadro attributes the fresh, typical aromas of the mountains to their liqueurs; in the case of Bellabomba, this means: milk from nearby, rum from afar, and a distillery in between that brings them both together.

It is stirred in Nogaredo in the Adige Valley, not far from Lake Garda. Sabina Marzadro began distilling there in 1949, and over 75 years later, Andrea, Anna, and Stefano Marzadro run the house as a family business, just as Sabina built it. Those who want to taste several of the house's liqueurs side-by-side will also find the miniature in the Crema Alpina miniature set, where it sits alongside Nocciola, Pistacchio, Limone, and Limoncino. And for larger crowds, the Bellabomba is available as a 1-liter bottle.

Why egg yolk curdles at 65 degrees

For the Bombardino: heat slowly, do not let it boil – egg yolk curdles at about 65 degrees. Then into the mug, cream on top, cocoa over it. Served cold at 8 to 10 degrees, the miniature is enough for a small glass after a meal or for a scoop of vanilla ice cream over which you simply pour it.

Distilleria Marzadro
