The Grappa Gift Set Espressioni by Marzadro brings together three 350 ml bottles in a round box: Bianca from the steel tank, Aromatica from four years in oak, and Solera from five years of Solera maturation. The distillery's limited premium line, all side by side.

The Grappa Gift Set Espressioni is the Espressioni line from the Distilleria Marzadro in one box: three grappas, three maturations, three answers to the same question. Each bottle holds 350 milliliters, all three arrive in a round gift box – and one of them is available here exclusively: the Espressioni Bianca is not sold individually.

What unites the Espressioni is the master distiller's annual selection: Andrea Marzadro fills this line with whatever the maturation cellar has to offer best in the respective year. What separates them is the vessel – steel, oak, Solera.

Bianca, Aromatica, Solera

Three grappas, three paths: one without wood, one for four years in oak barrels, one for five years using the Spanish method.

The Espressioni Bianca is made from Marzemino and Moscato and rests for one year in steel barrels – fresh and traditional in scent, clear in the glass, with no wood influence at all. The Espressioni Aromatica made from Gewürztraminer and Müller-Thurgau spends four years in 500-liter oak barrels, becoming aromatic and fruity. The Espressioni Solera made from Teroldego, Marzemino, and Cabernet matures for five years according to the Solera method in 225- and 500-liter barrels – bold and rich.

Tasted side by side, the three tell the story of what maturation does to a spirit: from the light, straightforward Bianca to the fruitiness of the Aromatica to the depth of the Solera, the entire range of a distillery lies in three glasses. Well done.

What is remarkable is how little the raw materials differ: Marzemino, for example, is in both the Bianca and the Solera. One year in steel or five years in Solera – the same grape, two completely different glasses.

A gift in round form

The box is reminiscent of a hat box – round, sturdy, and far too good to throw away.

Unpacking is part of the gift here: lid off, three bottles next to each other, each with its own story. Anyone who already likes grappa but always buys the same bottle is the right recipient. Three maturations in one box are an invitation to compare, and 350 milliliters per variety are enough for many evenings. The Espressioni are the distillery's limited line – assembled anew each year, bottled in limited numbers.

For this, Andrea Marzadro tastes the contents of the maturation cellar and decides what is ripe and what still needs time. Because every year is different, no edition can be exactly repeated – anyone who opens a bottle is drinking the vintage, not the recipe. Distilling has taken place in Nogaredo in the Adige Valley, not far from Lake Garda, since Sabina Marzadro started there in 1949. Today, Andrea, Anna, and Stefano Marzadro run the distillery as a family business – and the Espressioni are what they measure themselves by. Over 75 years of experience are packed into this box, divided into three bottles.

Tasted in order of their maturation

Taste the three in the order of their maturation: first the Bianca from the steel, then the Aromatica from the oak, and finally the Solera. All at room temperature, all in a tulip-shaped glass, with a sip of water in between.
