Questions about Trentina Traditional Grappa – 500ml?

We are happy to help you with Distilleria Marzadro.

Trentina Grappa Tradizionale, young and straightforward

The Trentina Grappa Tradizionale from Marzadro is a grappa giovane – a young, unaged spirit made from the red Trentino grape varieties Teroldego, Marzemino, and Merlot. Dry and decisive in aroma, elegant and long-lasting on the palate, with 41% ABV.

Trentina Grappa Tradizionale is the young grappa from the Distilleria Marzadro – clear as water, because it has never seen a barrel. That is precisely where its appeal lies: what is in the glass is the pure pomace of three red Trentino grapes, without wood, without color, without detours. "La Trentina" is the family's house brand and their tribute to the region in which they live.

The aroma is dry and decisive, with the freshness that only a young spirit can provide. On the palate, it is elegant and long-lasting, powerful yet gentle – it doesn't flaunt its 41% ABV, it carries it. This is what grappa tastes like before the wood gets a say.

Grappa giovane – what that means

Giovane means young: after distillation, this grappa goes directly into the bottle, without spending months or years in a barrel.

In doing so, it follows the oldest tradition of the Trentino. Before anyone ever had the idea to put pomace spirit into oak, it was drunk exactly like this – clear, fresh, direct. And because no wood shares the stage, you can hear the grape varieties in their purest form: Teroldego, Marzemino, and Merlot, each with its own tone. If you want to know what the family's craft tastes like without any embellishments, this is where you start.

The 500 ml bottle is the friendly middle ground: enough for many evenings, small enough that you aren't overcommitting. If you would like to get to know the Tradizionale in a smaller dose, you can also find it in the Le Mignon tasting set among five miniatures.

The most sociable of the Marzadros

The Tradizionale is the grappa for the group at the table – after a meal, during a conversation that refuses to end.

Served slightly chilled at 12 to 14 degrees, its freshness comes to the fore; young spirits prefer it cooler than aged ones. It is also a clear base for a signature cocktail, where a woody note would only get in the way. To see how that same pomace sounds after months in a barrel, take a look at the Trentina Morbida barrique – the soft brother of this same house brand.

Three red grapes from the Adige Valley

Teroldego, Marzemino, and Merlot provide the pomace – three varieties that characterize the vineyards of the Trentino.

Teroldego is the Trentino grape par excellence, dark and powerful; Marzemino even made it into Mozart's Don Giovanni in 1787, where it is ordered on the open stage; Merlot rounds it off. Each is distilled separately in a water bath, in discontinuous copper stills, gently heated and then cooled. The temperature fluctuations of the valley, the soils, the experience of centuries – all of this is contained in a glass that looks so clear it seems as if there were nothing inside.

It is distilled in Nogaredo in the Adige Valley, not far from Lake Garda, where Sabina Marzadro began in 1949. Today, Andrea, Anna, and Stefano Marzadro lead the company as a family business, and those who vacation at the lake are welcome to visit the distillery. All Marzadro grappas are waiting for you here.

Slightly chilled in a slender glass

The Tradizionale belongs in a small, slender glass, served slightly chilled – this preserves its freshness and keeps the alcohol in check. After a hearty meal, it clears the palate; it holds its own against a cigar. And if you want to fully understand the house brand, place it next to the Morbida barrique: the same place, the same family, once without and once with a barrel. The difference is the entire history of grappa in two glasses.

Distilleria Marzadro
