The base for this particularly sweet and nutty, creamy liqueur with an intense hazelnut nougat note, nuances of chocolate and vanilla, is the fine hazelnut spirit made from finely ground hazelnuts and cream. Piekfeine Hazelnut – Liqueur from Bremen

The hazelnut belongs to the birch family, is native to Europe and Asia Minor, and is common in Central Europe. Inside the nut is a single large seed. The seed coat is thin and membranous. Hazelnut seeds contain about 60 percent fatty oil, but neither sugar nor starch, which is why no alcohol can be produced from them. Therefore, they are steeped (macerated) in neutral alcohol in roasted, peeled, and crushed form. The aroma of the fruit thus transfers to the alcohol. This macerate is then distilled using the traditional and very elaborate rough and fine distillation process. The hazelnut spirit thus created is particularly mild and at the same time wonderfully intense in its sensory perception.

The true taste of this cream liqueur is best enjoyed "on ice." It also crowns milk ice cream, such as chocolate or nut ice cream. It is a delight on lava cake. In winter, it can also be wonderfully combined with coffee, similar to Irish Coffee. Furthermore, the liqueur can be used for cakes and for making pralines.
