Fleur de Rosé 2024 from Weingut Rings is an everyday rosé wine

Fleur de Rosé 2024 from Weingut Rings is a dry rosé wine from the Palatinate region, crafted from Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. This VDP.Gutswein is matured exclusively in steel tanks, keeping it bright and succulent, and arrives in the cellar with a screw cap.

Fleur de Rosé 2024 is an uncomplicated organic rosé wine from Weingut Rings in Freinsheim, blended from four red grape varieties. At 12.0 percent alcohol, it remains moderate, and its acidity is balanced by a noticeably perceptible residual sweetness, making it soft and smooth on the palate. All grapes come from their own estate, and the closure bears the VDP eagle.

Bright color, red berries, and a soft finish

The color remains pale because the red skins are only allowed a few hours to impart their color to the juice. This short maceration period is a deliberate cellar decision rather than a byproduct of the pressing process.

The nose features red berries, primarily strawberry and raspberry, with a hint of citrus that gives the wine a fresh feel. On the palate, it remains juicy, medium-bodied, and pleasantly soft, as both elements are almost perfectly balanced in the glass.

The finish is short and clean, which is precisely what makes this rosé so suitable for everyday drinking. Served at 8 to 10 degrees, the fruit is clearly at the forefront; if served too cold, it disappears behind the chill.

Pairs with grilled shrimp, tomato salad, and melon with feta

A rosé of this style is a wine for the outdoors, for long evenings, and for anything involving oil, herbs, and summer vegetables. Its weight is low enough that it does not overpower light dishes.

Classically, it goes well with grilled shrimp with garlic, a tomato salad with basil, or watermelon with feta, whose salty sweetness mirrors the soft nature of the wine. A lukewarm pasta salad with roasted bell peppers is also a suitable match, as the wine brings enough acidity for the vinaigrette.

Those who prefer a stricter, more acidity-driven profile will find it in the Sauvignon Blanc. Other bright summer wines can be found under Rosé wines, and the brothers' entire assortment is in the Weingut Rings section.

How red grapes become a light wine

Rosé is not made from pink berries, but from the same red grapes otherwise used to produce red wine.

The difference lies solely in the timing. For red wine, the juice remains in contact with the skins for days to extract color, tannins, and structure. For rosé, this process is stopped early, as the fruit flesh itself is colorless. The hand-picked grapes are put into the press, some as whole clusters, and the must separates quickly from the skins.

Afterward, the estate's own native yeasts handle the fermentation, which takes place and concludes in steel tanks. Wood would be the wrong choice here, as roasted notes would mask the delicate berry fruit, and an everyday wine does not need to carry the cost of barrel aging. Steel imparts nothing, keeps the temperature low, and preserves the very freshness for which this rosé was made.
