Superbon – Spanish potato chips with yellow paprika
The Belgian brand Superbon was founded in 2012 by Philippe Emmanuelli, whose restaurant Ar Men Du was awarded a green star for sustainability by the Michelin Guide in 2020. As a little sister of the Supersec brand, which carries high-quality dried mushrooms, algae, and fruits, all attention at Superbon was focused on potato chips. But not just any chips. They were to be the best, completely without flavor enhancers, artificial colors, or preservatives, but still fully convincing in taste. In the vibrant trendy district of La Chueca in the center of Madrid, also famous as the chip capital, the Belgian Philippe found the del Pozo family's company, which has been producing delicious chips from fresh, Spanish potatoes for generations. There, the thinly sliced potatoes are crisply fried in good sunflower oil and sprinkled with salt and yellow paprika powder while still warm, before being packed into the stylish bags with the large yellow paprika on them. The sensational design for the paprika chips was contributed by the Belgian artist Greg Ewing.
