Superbon – Spanish potato chips with Jalapeno
The Belgian brand Superbon was founded in 2012 by Philippe Emmanuelli, whose restaurant Ar Men Du was awarded a green star for sustainability by the Michelin Guide in 2020. As the little sister of the Supersec brand, which offers high-quality dried mushrooms, algae, and fruits, Superbon focused entirely on potato chips. But not just any chips. They had to be the best, completely free of flavor enhancers, artificial colors, and preservatives, yet full of flavor. In the vibrant trendy district of La Chueca in central Madrid, also known as the chip capital, Philippe, the Belgian, found the del Pozo family's company, which has been making delicious chips from fresh, Spanish potatoes for generations. There, thinly sliced potatoes are fried until crispy in good sunflower oil and then, while still warm, sprinkled with salt, jalapeno, and green paprika powder before being packed into stylish bags adorned with the radiant jalapeno pod. The eye-catching design for the latest chip variety was also contributed by the Belgian artist Greg Ewing.
