Superbon – Spanish Potato Chips Poivre & Sel
The Belgian brand Superbon was founded in 2012 by Philippe Emmanuelli, whose restaurant Ar Men Du was awarded a green star for sustainability by the Michelin Guide in 2020. As a younger sister brand to Supersec, which offers high-quality dried mushrooms, algae, and fruits, Superbon's entire focus was on potato chips. But not just any chips. They were to be the best, completely free of flavor enhancers, colorings, and preservatives, yet fully convincing in taste. In the vibrant trendy district of La Chueca in central Madrid, also famous as the chip capital, the Belgian Philippe found the del Pozo family company, which has been producing delicious chips from fresh, Spanish potatoes for generations. There, thinly sliced potatoes are fried until crispy in good sunflower oil and sprinkled with salt and black pepper while still warm, before being packed into stylish bags featuring a Spanish bull. The striking design for the salt and pepper chips was contributed by Belgian artist Greg Ewing.
