Organic Whole Milk Cat's Tongues, thin and tender

Berger Confiserie's Organic Whole Milk Cat's Tongues are thin, tongue-shaped pieces of tender milk chocolate, organic and Fairtrade. They are called cat's tongues because of their narrow shape, and because they are so thin, they melt especially quickly on the tongue.

Organic Whole Milk Cat's Tongues are Berger Confiserie's individual, tongue-shaped pieces of milk chocolate with 37 percent cocoa. The thin shape is an old confectionery classic, pretty for sharing and just thin enough for every piece to melt away at once. Milky, tender, nostalgic – this is how people have been nibbling for generations.

Thin, tender, quickly melted

Because the little pieces are so thin, they don't need a long bite; they almost dissolve on the tongue by themselves. Ideal when you only want a small sweet moment and don't feel like breaking a big piece off a bar.

The melt is mild and creamy, classic milk chocolate with 37 percent cocoa, here in a dainty portion. A touch of real vanilla rounds off the milky sweetness; it needs no more flavor than that. Because each tongue lies on its own, you can take one after another without breaking anything off. That is how a small shape becomes a big temptation.

A classic in the shape of a tongue

Cat's tongues are a nostalgic sweet, thin chocolate tongues that, in flat boxes, were once a fixture on every table laid for afternoon coffee.

They owe their name to their narrow, slightly curved shape, which recalls a cat's tongue. Berger pours them from organic milk chocolate, individually and thin, so that every piece is a portion in itself. That makes them the ideal small gift and something to reach for in between.

On grandmothers' tables at coffee time they often lay ready in flat boxes, neatly lined up like little spoons, and were passed around with coffee and cake. As a bar, Berger also makes a plain organic milk chocolate.

The tongues are poured at Berger Feinste Confiserie in Lofer, where chocolate has been ladled and poured by hand since 1994.

Hubert and Christine Berger started out in 1994 in a garage; today their company has around 100 employees and nine shops across the country. For the milk chocolate of these tongues, they use Fairtrade-certified organic cocoa. The same care that goes into the large bars also goes into the little tongues. Every shape is made by hand, just as Christine and Hubert have done it from the very beginning. You'll find the thin pieces among our chocolate bars.

On the saucer with an espresso

The box holds 110 g of cat's tongues, one by one for nibbling and offering around. With coffee, at teatime or as a small treat on the saucer, they are especially lovely. Stored cool and dry, away from strongly scented neighbors in the cupboard, they keep their tender melt for a long time.

Placed on the saucer next to an espresso, a tongue sits right where you know it from the Viennese coffee house. Children like them because they can take them out of the box without breaking anything, and for guests they are on the table in no time. As a gift they are a pretty classic, as is the rest of the Berger range with its bars, pralines and filled cat's tongues.
