Organic Rosé estate wine from Osthofen by Weingut Karl May
The 2025 RosaRot Rosé from the Karl May winery is a light organic rosé wine from Rheinhessen, a cuvée made from four red grape varieties. Juicy, berry-forward, and vibrantly fresh. An uncomplicated summer wine for the patio.
RosaRot Rosé 2025 is a light organic estate wine from the Karl May winery in Osthofen, Rheinhessen, a cuvée of Frühburgunder, Spätburgunder, Portugieser, and Dornfelder. It is fragrant with notes of red berries and tastes juicy and easy-drinking. A wonderfully fresh rosé that brings good cheer to the glass.
Red wild berries, strawberry, a hint of red currant
On the nose, it offers a lush aroma of red wild berries, strawberry, and a hint of red currant, smelling like summer right away.
On the palate, the rosé is juicy, fruity, and fresh, with a medium body and good acidity balance. With 12 percent alcohol and 7.1 grams of acidity, the 2025 vintage feels a touch fresher and zestier than its predecessor, yet the fine residual sweetness keeps it round and accessible. A rosé that tastes like summer and doesn't require a special occasion. You can feel how its freshness immediately lifts your spirits.
With salad, fish, and anything from the grill
Served well-chilled at 8 to 10 degrees, the RosaRot is a reliable companion for warm days and long evenings.
It pairs well with summery salads, light meats, and fish such as salmon or tuna, as well as anything off the grill. It also stands up well to light pasta or an afternoon cheese board, without making any grand demands. Serve it in a white wine glass, and its berry fruit will open up. Once chilled, it’s the perfect companion for the lake, the balcony, or a barbecue.
Four grape varieties from Fritz and Peter May
The grapes for the RosaRot grow in various sites on sandy loess-loam soil, farmed organically without synthetic pesticides.
Four red grape varieties give it its character: Frühburgunder and Spätburgunder provide fine fruit, Portugieser adds juiciness, and Dornfelder provides the color. To ensure the grapes reach maturity, Fritz and Peter May prune early, defoliate the grape zone for more sun, and reduce yields through green harvesting. The grapes are harvested early and selectively by hand, often in several passes.
After a short maceration period, the wine is gently pressed, the must undergoes spontaneous fermentation, remains on the lees for a long time, and matures in stainless steel tanks, which preserves the fresh fruit.
For a rosé to be this light and animating, the timing of the harvest and cool fermentation are crucial—both preserve the delicate fruit and lively acidity. You can't taste the effort behind the RosaRot, and that is precisely the art. The May family has been making wine in its seventh generation since 1815, across approximately 35 hectares in Rheinhessen. You can find more in the Karl May winery collection and among our rosé wines. Simply raise a glass and enjoy it, nice and easy.
