Questions about Limoncino Miniature?

We are happy to help you with Distilleria Marzadro.

Limoncino Miniature, a Spritz to try out

The Limoncino miniature from Marzadro contains 5 cl – an Italian lemon liqueur made from an infusion of lemon peels, bold and zesty at 35% ABV. Enough for one spritz or two small glasses. Perfect for sampling and gifting.

The Limoncino miniature is a trial-sized portion of the lemon liqueur from the Distilleria Marzadro: five centiliters of Limoncino Ricetta Tradizionale, created from an infusion of lemon peels in alcohol. It’s the same recipe as in the full-sized bottle, the same 35% ABV – just in a format that fits in any pocket.

In the glass, the Limoncino is pale yellow and slightly cloudy; on the palate, it is lemony, smooth, and distinct—the peel provides the bitter note that keeps the sweetness in check. One sip is enough to know whether it belongs in your freezer.

A Spritz, no commitment

Five centiliters are enough for two neat glasses – or two and a half spritzes.

This allows you to clarify both: whether you like the lemon liqueur neat, ice-cold after a meal, and whether it suits your taste in Prosecco. For the spritz, you need two centiliters, sparkling wine to top it off, ice, and a slice of lemon. If it convinces you, the 200 ml bottle awaits for a summer evening, and the 700 ml bottle is ready for your personal stock.

And even if it’s not for you, you won't have an unfinished bottle sitting around – that’s a different story with a full-sized one.

As a small gift, the format works perfectly anyway: it fits in a gift basket, on an advent calendar, or next to a larger present that is missing that final touch. The pale yellow color doesn’t make big promises—but the first sip certainly does.

Cloudiness is part of the deal

Anyone who holds it up to the light won't see a crystal-clear liqueur – and that’s exactly how it should be.

Lemon oil doesn't dissolve completely, and what doesn't dissolve is visible: the Limoncino appears slightly cloudy in the glass, which is just how a lemon looks when it encounters water or alcohol. Served ice-cold from the freezer, it is even more noticeable because the cold causes additional cloudiness in the liqueur.

It is the same effect you experience when zesting a lemon peel, only now it's visible: there is oil involved, and oil and water have never really gotten along. A good reason to give the little bottle a quick shake before pouring.

What's in the infusion

Lemon peels, alcohol, time – the aroma is in the peel, not the juice.

The alcohol extracts the oil from the peel, and the 35% ABV is intentional: the manufacturer explains that the higher alcohol content highlights the fresh citrus aromas more clearly. That is why this Limoncino tastes like lemon, not lemon juice.

It is produced in Nogaredo in the Adige Valley, not far from Lake Garda, where Sabina Marzadro began distilling in 1949. Over 75 years later, Andrea, Anna, and Stefano Marzadro continue to run the house – the children of her brother Attilio, who took over in 1960. The fact that a house known by most for its grappa would produce a lemon liqueur is less a contradiction than a matter of neighborhood: citrus fruits have been growing on the shores of the lake for centuries. What else Marzadro produces can be found under Marzadro Liqueurs.

Two centiliters for the spritz, the rest remains

Into the freezer it goes – at 35% ABV, the miniature won't freeze solid, but will become thick and ice-cold. That’s how it belongs in a small glass after a meal. If that’s not enough for you, pour it over a scoop of lemon ice cream for a dessert and liqueur in one.

The miniature is also enough for a spritz: two centiliters in a glass, top up with Prosecco, add ice and a lemon slice – and the rest remains for your second attempt. By the way, the Limoncino doesn't need a refrigerator after opening – at 35% ABV, it keeps wherever you store it. It only goes in the freezer because it tastes better that way.

Distilleria Marzadro
