Questions about Limoncino Lemon Liqueur – 200ml?

We are happy to help you with Distilleria Marzadro.

Limoncino Lemon Liqueur, two-hundred milliliter aperitif

The Limoncino from Marzadro is an Italian lemon liqueur made from an infusion of lemon peels in alcohol. At 35% ABV, it is bold and citrusy – enjoy it ice-cold neat, in Prosecco, or as a spritz. Here in a 200 ml bottle.

The Limoncino from Distilleria Marzadro bears the full name Limoncino Ricetta Tradizionale and is created from an infusion of lemon peels in alcohol. In this 200 ml bottle, it is the perfect size for a summer evening: enough for a round of spritz, small enough to take with you.

In the glass, the Limoncino is pale yellow and slightly cloudy; on the palate, it is lemony, zesty, and summery – the peel provides the bitter note that keeps the sweetness in check. Ice-cold is a different liqueur than lukewarm, and only one of them is the right way.

The aperitif in a bottle

Two centiliters of Limoncino, top with Prosecco, add ice – the evening is ready.

That is exactly what this size is made for. If you drink it as a spritz, 200 milliliters go a long way: sparkling wine or Prosecco, a splash of mineral water, a slice of lemon, and an evening after work becomes a terrace in Italy. At two centiliters per glass, the bottle lasts for about ten rounds. If you like it classic, drink it neat and ice-cold after a meal – that’s how they do it where it comes from.

The format also works well as a small gift: It says “I was thinking of you” without requiring anyone to find space for a 700 ml bottle. And it is also useful in the kitchen – a dash flavors pastries, cream desserts, fruit salads, and ice cream.

Anyone trying it for the first time should drink it neat before it disappears into Prosecco: The infusion of lemon peels tastes different from anything that has "lemon" in its name and comes from a supermarket shelf. You can always mix it later.

A lemon liqueur from the mountains

Marzadro is an Alpine distillery – and yet, it makes lemon liqueur.

That sounds like a contradiction, but it is just neighborhood ties: Nogaredo lies in the Adige Valley, not far from Lake Garda, and the lake keeps the winters so mild that citrus fruits have been grown on its shores for centuries. For a house that learned its craft with alcohol, an infusion of lemon peels is therefore a natural step.

An infusion requires nothing more than alcohol, peels, and patience – no one needs a lemon grove on their doorstep for that, just someone who knows when to harvest. That is exactly the craft this house has practiced for three generations. What else Marzadro produces can be found in our Marzadro Liqueurs collection.

Three sizes, one infusion

The same lemon liqueur is available in three bottles – the size does not change the recipe.

Above this 200 ml size is the 700 ml bottle for those who drink it regularly; below it is the miniature with five centiliters for sampling. The size does not change the recipe – it is the same infusion in a different bottle.

Distilling and maceration take place in Nogaredo, where Sabina Marzadro began distilling in 1949. Over 75 years later, Andrea, Anna, and Stefano Marzadro continue to run the business – the children of her brother Attilio, who took over in 1960. Those vacationing at Lake Garda are welcome to visit the distillery.

Why it doesn't freeze in the freezer

The bottle belongs in the freezer. A freezer reaches about minus 18 degrees Celsius, and at 35% ABV, the liqueur only freezes well below that temperature – so it doesn't solidify there, it just becomes syrupy and ice-cold. That is exactly how Limoncino belongs in a small glass.

For the spritz: two centiliters, top with Prosecco, add ice and a slice of lemon. Once opened, it does not require a refrigerator – at 35% ABV, it keeps wherever you store it. It only goes into the freezer because it tastes better that way.

Distilleria Marzadro
