South Tyrolean fruit spreads with a high fruit content
Alpe Pragas fruit spreads are South Tyrolean preserves with up to 75% fruit content, cooked down from ripe mountain fruits. Not a thin jelly, but dense and fruity, ranging from Vinschgau apricot and strawberry to dark forest fruits, perfect for breakfast toast and cheese boards.
Fruit spreads from Alpe Pragas are densely cooked preserves from the Prags Valley in the Dolomites, where the fruit takes center stage. In 1997, Stefan Gruber founded the small manufactory, which was among the first in Italy to feature such a high fruit content; the classic varieties contain up to 75% fruit. You can taste it in every spoonful: plenty of berries, a thick consistency, and clear fruit flavor.
From apricot to forest fruit
Over forty varieties range from Vinschgau apricot and strawberry to dark forest fruit. Each fruit is put into the jar when it is ripe: apricots in midsummer, quinces in autumn. The apricot tastes classic on buttered bread, while the tart sour cherry pairs well with aged mountain cheese. Those who prefer it velvety and seedless can choose the finely strained line; the organic fruit spreads have been available since 2011. You can find the entire Alpe Pragas range in our producer hub. This is what South Tyrol tastes like on bread.
