Grauburgunder 2024 - a Weedenborn Estate Wine
The Grauburgunder 2024 from Gesine Roll of the Weedenborn Winery impresses with its delicate spice and excellent drinkability. The 2024 Grauburgunder Estate Wine, made from hand-picked and destemmed berries, remains on the fine lees for a long time, undergoing malolactic fermentation (MLF), and is then partially aged in large wooden barrels. This creates a pleasant creaminess and, in addition to aromas of apples and pears, also notes of brioche and vanilla.
Gesine Roll and her Family Winery
Gesine Roll runs the family winery Weedenborn in Monzernheim, Rheinhessen. Wine has a long tradition in her family. Just a few kilometers away in Osthofen is the winery of her cousins Peter and Fritz May, whose wines we also carry. The transition to the next generation at Weedenborn Winery went smoothly. Her father Udo Manthey still supports his daughter in the vineyards today. In the cellar, she alone calls the shots. Her parents are proud of their dedicated daughter, who, after her viticulture apprenticeship at Bassermann-Jordan and her studies in trade management in Worms, appeals to a new generation of wine drinkers with her wines. On the 22 hectares of vineyards, in addition to Sauvignon Blanc, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, Spätburgunder, Chardonnay, and, of course, Riesling are grown.
