Weedenborn – Riesling Terra Rossa – Westhofen
The Weedenborn Riesling Terra Rossa 2014 owes its name to the red soil on which it grows, which gives the wine its unique aroma. Gesine Roll's Riesling captivates with minerality, power, and elegance. It is concentrated without being overbearing. What does the winemaker herself say about her wine style: "Elegance and pull are particularly important to me in wines. That the wines are very precise and 'easy-drinking', not heavy or cloying. The high altitude of our winery's vineyards with cool nights and a lot of wind is perfectly suited for my preferred wine style."
Weedenborn – a village wine from Rheinhessen
Gesine Roll's village wines come from the best sites around the mountain community of Monzernheim, which is located on one of the highest elevations in Rheinhessen. The mineral Riesling Terra Rossa Westhofen village wine grows on the special and rare Terra Rossa soil in the heart of the Westhofener Steingrube. After being harvested by hand, the grapes were separated from the stems and the berries were lightly crushed. Aromas are extracted from the grape skins during a maceration period of about 18 hours, and the must is then pressed. Half of it is aged in wooden barrels, the other half in stainless steel. The must was fermented with wild yeasts.
aged reserve wines – perfectly stored
We are pleased to offer this village wine in aged quality. Especially single-vineyard or village wines need some time to show their full depth. We store our wines in the dark in their original boxes at a constant temperature, as we air-condition our modern storage rooms using a geothermal heat pump that gets its energy from a photovoltaic system: sustainable and environmentally friendly.
