Weedenborn – Pinot Blanc Estate Wine from Rheinhessen
The grapes for this Weedenborn Pinot Blanc 2024 estate wine from Rheinhessen come from parcels with calcareous marl and loess-loam soils around Monzernheim and were all carefully harvested by hand. After light pressing, the grapes remain in their own juice for 12 hours to extract the aromas from the grape skin. A small portion of the wine was fermented in large wooden barrels, which gives the wine a certain something without masking the aromatics.
Do you like Cox's Orange Pippin apples? Then you will love Gesine Roll's Pinot Blanc from Weingut Weedenborn! The ripe apple on the nose is enticing and brings the first sip closer. A touch of exoticism comes with pineapple and mango. The Weedenborn Pinot Blanc convinces with much creaminess and a fine, firm acidity structure. As with all wines from Weingut Weedenborn, this Pinot Blanc also shows a finely developed minerality. A great estate wine!
Weedenborn - the 2024 vintage
2024 was generally a cooler wine year, which was challenging with a combination of abundant rainfall and large temperature differences, sometimes in the double digits. The excellent location of the vineyards on a hill in Rheinhessen, which brought a lot of wind, leading to faster drying after rain and cooling during heat, was a gift of nature last year. This, combined with a meticulous winemaker like Gesine Roll and a highly motivated team in the vineyards who could react spontaneously to weather changes, showed in the exemplary year 2024: artisanal work is rewarded with high quality.
The grapes were harvested at individually suitable times in the up to 26 individual parcels of the winery and aged separately. The aging took place partly in oak barrels and partly in stainless steel tanks. Only shortly before bottling were the individual batches skillfully blended to create a wonderfully complex assemblage.
