Green Tea Rose by Kusmi Tea is a Chinese tea tradition interpreted by Kusmi: green tea that is rolled and dried together with rose petals, absorbing the delicate floral scent of the rose. The recipe is simple – organically grown green tea, refined with natural floral aromas. No frills, no excess: a tea that thrives on the interplay of two very clear ingredients.

Light infusion, grassy-fresh and delicately carried by rose

As soon as you open the tin, you can tell what Green Tea Rose is all about: the slightly grassy scent of a Chinese green tea, enveloped by a soft rose floral notes reminiscent of an early summer garden. The leaves are small and rolled, dark green with a slight silvery shimmer – no visible petals, as the rose has already released its aroma during the rolling process.

In the cup, Green Tea Rose reveals a light straw yellow to subtle green hue. The first sip is soft and clear, the vegetal freshness of the green tea forms the foundation, and the rose layers on top like a delicate veil of scent. No sweetness, no heaviness – instead, that slight astringency characteristic of green tea, combined with the floral elevation that gives the tea its name. Gentle, clear, of brief elegance.

For a short afternoon break or next to an open book

Green Tea Rose is a tea for quiet moments. As an afternoon break between appointments, a companion to an open book, a silent desk tea. It pairs well with almond pastries, a slice of lemon cake, rose macarons, or a slice of buttered bread with honey. It's especially lovely with Japanese finger food: onigiri, mochi, delicate sashimi bites – the rose breaks through the maritime clarity and makes the tea a gentle counterpart.

When preparing, water temperature is key: green tea cannot tolerate boiling water, which would strip it of its freshness and bring out bitter tannins. For a pot, you need about 2 tablespoons of loose tea per liter, infused with 75 °C hot water, steeping for 3 to 4 minutes. A little trick: boil the water first, then let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes – this way you'll reach the right temperature without a thermometer.

Green Tea Rose tastes best pure, without milk or sugar. A hint of honey can emphasize the floral side, but is rarely necessary.

The history of Kusmi Tea begins in 1867 in Saint Petersburg, where 21-year-old Pavel Mikhailovich Kousmichoff opened his own tea house. The rose has been a recurring motif throughout the company's history – it was the favorite flower of Russian nobility, it blooms in the summer palace of Peterhof, and it quickly found its way into Kusmi blends. Green Tea Rose is the contemporary interpretation of this tradition: simple, clear, entirely focused on the essentials.

After the Russian Revolution, the family fled to Paris in 1917, where Kusmi Tea is still based today. Since 2017, almost all teas have been organically grown, and the aromas are 100% natural.
