Linen Tea Towel – Butter

Linen Tea Towel Butter by Linen Tales

The Linen Tea Towel Butter by Linen Tales is a light yellow kitchen towel made of European linen, woven in Lithuania and stone-washed for softness. Its yellow is as muted as freshly churned butter and brings the light of morning to the breakfast table.

Linen Tea Towel Butter is a kitchen towel from Linen Tales in Vilnius that polishes glasses, lines the breakfast basket, and lets yeast dough rise underneath it. The loop on the corner keeps it within reach on a hook, where it dries between tasks.

A yellow that brightens up the breakfast table

Butter is a soft, off-white yellow, like the sun stretching across a windowsill in spring. On a table with light wood and white porcelain, this shade elevates the entire room, even when it’s a grey November day outside. Combined with the blue and grey tones of the same range, it acts like a sun salute without making the table look overly colorful. For the darker months, this is one of the smartest acquisitions in the Linen Tales assortment.

Why linen is good for yeast dough

Placed over a bowl of rising dough, linen retains warmth while still allowing air to pass through because the fabric breathes instead of sealing. The dough won’t form a skin and remains protected, which a terry cloth kitchen towel cannot manage. Afterward, the towel goes into the machine, and any flour residue washes out of the smooth fabric without a trace.

Linen is also the right fabric for the bread basket because it holds heat while still allowing steam to escape. Freshly baked rolls stay crispy underneath instead of softening in their own moisture. A towel that lines the basket in the morning and dries glasses at noon deserves its place on the hook.

The thread that comes from a blue flower

Flax has blue blossoms, grows in European fields with the rain, and requires hardly any pesticides. The EUROPEAN FLAX seal on the Linen Tales fabric certifies the Western European origin of the fibers, and the Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX confirms that there are no harmful residues in the yarn. Linseed oil is pressed from the seeds of the same plant, while the stalks become the fabric.

Two towels on the hook, one in the machine

Because linen dries so quickly, a kitchen can get by with two or three towels in rotation, and none will lie around damp for days. A light yellow like this honestly shows when it is time for the laundry, something that is easily overlooked with dark kitchen linens. Once you have adopted this rotation, you will rarely reach for a paper towel again. Three towels on the hook are enough for a week of cooking, baking, and drying.

Machine wash at 40 degrees, no bleach

Wash the linen tea towel on a gentle cycle at 40 degrees and use a mild detergent without bleach so the yellow stays fresh. Use a spin speed of no more than 600 rpm and air dry. If you prefer a smooth drape, smooth the towel out while damp and hang it up; then you won’t need an iron.
