The linen fiber is hollow on the inside and conducts moisture away instead of storing it in the pile like terry cloth. Light grey, which goes with every color

Light Grey is the quietest tone in the Linen Tales range, a soft silver-grey without any coolness, which neither clashes with colorful dishes nor disappears next to white porcelain. In a kitchen where wood, tile, and enamel are already competing for attention, such a tone is a relief. It takes a back seat without ever appearing inconspicuous, and can be combined with every second color in the series.

Stone-washed so it feels soft in the hand

Freshly woven linen is smooth and stiff, almost like paper. Linen Tales therefore washes every bolt of fabric with stones before it is cut, as this breaks down the fiber and causes the fabric to lose its hardness, entirely without chemical assistance. The towel arrives supple right out of the packaging, whereas untreated linen only reaches this state after years. At the same time, the stone-washing anticipates most of the shrinking, so the dimensions remain correct even after the twentieth wash.

A towel that makes paper rolls superfluous

Over its lifetime, a single linen towel replaces hundreds of sheets of paper towels because it absorbs grease just as well as water and can then simply be put in the machine. Linen is considered the strongest natural fiber and is abrasion-resistant enough to do this for years, becoming suppler rather than thinner with every wash. At the end of this long path, there is nothing in the yarn that doesn't belong there. A kitchen towel that you use for twenty years is the most understated contribution to a household that exists.

Wash at 40 degrees, leave out the fabric softener

Place the linen tea towel in the delicate cycle at 40 degrees and set the spin speed to a maximum of 600 rpm so that the fiber does not distort. You should omit fabric softener, as it forms a film around the fiber and deprives it of the very absorbency for which you bought the towel. It can be air-dried, and the slight creasing afterwards is part of this fabric.
