Over the years, a single linen towel replaces hundreds of paper towels because it absorbs grease just as readily as water and then simply goes into the machine. As the strongest natural fiber, linen withstands this wear for years, becoming softer rather than thinner in the process. When it eventually reaches the end of its life, the fiber decomposes completely without leaving a trace. The Long Thread Makes the Difference

Linen yarn contains unusually long fibers that offer little surface area in the weave and therefore hardly form any knots. This is what the durability of this towel is based on, because where short fibers eventually detach from the weave, the linen thread remains in place. In the workshop, a small team cuts the washed panels by hand and folds all four edges twice so that no threads come loose. Each towel is then individually rolled into a paper sleeve, making it a ready-made gift without any further effort. Two shades side-by-side make a gift for which no wrapping paper is needed. For a housewarming, it is a thoughtful gesture that will actually be used.

Wash at 40 Degrees, No Fabric Softener

Wash the linen tea towel on a delicate cycle at 40 degrees and spin at a maximum of 600 RPM. Use a mild detergent without bleach, as dark linen will otherwise lose its depth over the years. You can skip the tumble dryer, as this fabric finishes faster in the air than the machine takes to do the job. Hung up instead of crumpled, the towel retains its shape, and a brief smoothing while damp makes any ironing unnecessary.
