Miele Millefiori Wildflower Honey from the Marche region by Azienda Guerrieri

The Miele Millefiori from Azienda Guerrieri is a golden wildflower honey from the rolling hills of the Italian Marche region. Millefiori means "thousand flowers" – bees collect nectar from alfalfa, sainfoin, sweet clover, and many other meadow flowers. Golden yellow, floral, and slightly fruity. Cold-spun and untreated.

Miele Millefiori by Azienda Guerrieri is an Italian wildflower honey from the Marche (Marches) on the central Italian Adriatic coast. Millefiori literally means "thousand flowers" – the bees collect nectar from alfalfa, sainfoin, sweet clover, and a variety of other meadow and wildflowers. This results in a complex honey with a golden-yellow color, an intensely floral aroma, and subtle fruit notes. In a 250g jar: a piece of the Italian landscape, cold-spun and bottled by hand, untreated.

Golden yellow, floral, with subtle fruit notes

In the jar, the Miele Millefiori appears in a warm golden yellow; on the spoon, it reveals a creamy, floral sweetness with a light hint of ripe summer fruits. Unlike a monofloral varietal honey, it tastes more complex – meadow flowers, clover, a splash of honeydew – the diversity of Italian meadows in a single spoonful. You can recognize it by its spreadable consistency and the warm scent of summer in the jar.

Wildflower honey (Millefiori) is created when bees collect nectar from many different plants simultaneously. This happens primarily in near-natural meadows and extensively managed landscapes, such as those found on the Guerrieri family estate in the Marche. Each year's harvest tastes slightly different – sometimes more clover, sometimes more sainfoin, sometimes more wildflower, depending on the weather and the season.

Miele Millefiori on ricotta, with pecorino, in an aperitivo

Drizzled over fresh sheep's milk ricotta with ripe figs and toasted pine nuts, the Miele Millefiori is a simple Italian dessert – the sweetness of the meadow flowers meets the delicate lactic acidity of the cheese. It is equally well-suited for the evening aperitivo hour: a piece of focaccia, a drop of honey, and a glass of Bianchello from the same estate.

In classic Italian style, it pairs with aged pecorino or as a garnish on grilled halloumi with rosemary. For a crostata with mascarpone and fresh berries, a tablespoon is sufficient – the berries evoke the summer meadows from which the honey originates. In warm cooking, it blends well into a tomato-honey vinaigrette for grilled eggplant or adds a touch of sweetness to polenta with gorgonzola.

From the Marche region by the Guerrieri family estate

Azienda Guerrieri is a long-established family business in the Marche region of central Italy, an area between the Apennines and the Adriatic with mild hills, vineyards, olive groves, and near-natural meadows. The family has been farming their 200 hectares along the Metauro River since around 1800, now in the 6th generation – according to the producer, without synthetic pesticides in the foraging area. As Luca Guerrieri explains, the beehives are intentionally placed at the edges of meadows, where clover and wildflowers grow most densely.

In addition to Miele Millefiori, the Guerrieri family also produces durum wheat pasta (classic varieties and those made from ancient Senatore Cappelli wheat), cold-pressed olive oil, and white wine from the local Bianchello grape. In the Azienda Guerrieri collection at nurgutes.de, you will find pasta, wine, and honey from a single source – a small artisanal world from the Marche. The Miele Millefiori is cold-spun and not heated, ensuring that enzymes and natural aromas are preserved.

Crystals are not a defect

Store it in a dark, cool place at 12 to 18 degrees Celsius. During prolonged storage, it may crystallize – this is a mark of quality, not a defect. Warm it in a water bath at no more than 40 degrees for 5 to 10 minutes, and it will become spoon-soft again. Alongside an organic acacia honey and a dark forest honey, these three types on a cheese board most impressively demonstrate how differently wildflower and varietal honeys can taste.
