Guerriero del Mare 2024, a powerful white wine from old Bianchello vines

The 2024 Guerriero del Mare from Azienda Guerrieri is a Bianchello made from the estate's oldest vines, produced only in exceptional vintages. Partially fermented in wood and aged for over a year in oak barrels, it offers ripe fruit and a hint of minerality.

Guerriero del Mare 2024 from Azienda Guerrieri is the white counterpart to the Guerriero della Terra, a Bianchello that is given time to unfold. Ripe fruit, a touch of honey, and a structure that goes far beyond the young Bianchello del Metauro.

Only in the best years, from the oldest Bianchello vines

Like its red counterpart, the Guerriero del Mare is only produced in vintages that deserve it, according to Alberto Guerrieri, and comes from the estate's oldest Bianchello vines. The grapes are deliberately harvested late so that they possess more ripeness and concentration than those used for the young Bianchello del Metauro.

A portion of the must is fermented in wood and the rest in stainless steel, before the wine is aged for twelve months in oak barrels. This combination gives it a depth that a pure steel maturation would not achieve, without the wood masking the fruit.

48 of the estate's total 207 hectares are planted with vines, all cultivated using sustainable methods since 2004, without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. The Bianchello plots for the Guerriero del Mare are located on the estate's oldest sites, barely twelve kilometers from the Adriatic coast, which gives the wine its name.

Ripe fruit, honey, mineral finish

In the glass, the Guerriero del Mare is golden yellow, with aromas of ripe stone fruit, a hint of mango and papaya, and notes of honey accompanying a long, mineral finish. On the palate, it is full-bodied, dense, and elegant without losing its freshness.

This white wine displays its full depth when paired with pan-seared turbot, white meat, or truffle risotto, and you can immediately taste the extra maturity compared to the young Bianchello. It is best served at 8 to 10 degrees—tempered more like a red wine than a simple summer wine—and can certainly be opened half an hour before serving.

The white counterpart to the Guerriero della Terra

The Guerrieri family has been farming their estate on the Metauro since around 1800, now in its 6th generation under Luca Guerrieri and his children, Alberto and Maria Giulia.

Together with the Guerriero della Terra, the Guerriero del Mare forms the estate's flagship pair—a red and a white wine, both produced only in selected vintages and aged for a similarly long time before they are even released for sale.
