Celso Bianchello del Metauro Superiore DOC 2025, the young vintage of the selection

The Celso Bianchello del Metauro Superiore DOC 2025 is the latest release from Azienda Guerrieri's selection line, with 13% vol. alcohol and firm, lively acidity. A young, compact vintage that combines the concentration of the Superiore class with noticeable freshness.

Celso Bianchello del Metauro Superiore DOC 2025 by Azienda Guerrieri is the newest vintage of the estate's selection tier, named Celso after the plot along the Metauro from which the grapes originate. A compact wine from a warm harvest year, with a tight tension and clear fruit.

A warm vintage, harvested early

2025 was a year with plenty of sun along the Metauro, according to Maria Giulia Guerrieri, which is why the grapes for the Celso were harvested slightly earlier than usual to capture enough acidity before the heat could reduce it further. The result is a wine with noticeably more alcohol than the 2023 vintage, but with similarly clear fruit.

The 6.0 g/l of acidity is lower than in cooler years, yet the wine remains lively on the palate due to its compact structure. Especially in warm years, it becomes clear how much the longer maturation on the fine lees contributes to the balance of the Celso.

After the harvest, the wine matures as usual, initially in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, then for several months on the fine lees. The 2025 vintage is only released for sale shortly before bottling, making it correspondingly young and direct in character.

Compact, warm on the palate, with a firm finish

On the palate, the 2025 is spicy, robust, and velvety on the entry, significantly rounder than previous vintages, with a taut, slightly saline finish that brings the acidity back at the end. Notes of ripe pear and chamomile appear alongside the Celso's familiar spicy note, and you can taste the maturity of the vintage in the very first sip.

The 2025 pairs well with a vitello tonnato appetizer, sautéed shrimp with garlic, or a seafood risotto – dishes with some richness that can stand up to the warmer vintage. The Celso 2025 also works well with a mild goat cheese platter.

From our own assortment, a plate of Penne Rigate with shrimp and lemon is a perfect match, or as a finale, a spoonful of Miele Millefiori with pecorino.

The latest vintage of a long family project

The Guerrieri family has been cultivating their estate on the Metauro since around 1800, now in the 6th generation under Luca Guerrieri and his children Alberto and Maria Giulia. Of the 207 hectares, 48 hectares are dedicated to vines, a small portion of which is reserved for the Celso.

Since 2004, the estate has practiced near-natural farming without chemical fertilizers. Every vintage of the Celso differs noticeably from the last; since 2025, this has been clearly reflected in more power and less sharpness compared to cooler years.

If you would like to compare vintages directly, you will also find the previous release of the Celso as well as the classic Bianchello del Metauro DOC in the Azienda Guerrieri wine collection. This allows you to experience at your own table just how strongly a warm year shifts the character of this wine.
